Beatles, Can't Buy Me Love b/w You Can't Do That, Capitol 5150. Year of release is 1964. This is an auction for the extremely rare Can't Buy Me Love Beatles picture sleeve (and record). The sleeve had the straight cut across the top except although it appears to have a die cut because part of the top has been severed as a result of being cut by the outer edge of the record. Close inspection as well as the images below easily reveal that it is a straight cut! George's head is fully in view. The photos and print are clear. The paper texture is smooth as are the other early Beatles sleeves. The sleeve is difficult to grade. It has the owner's name printed on the Can't Buy Me Love side. The sleeve is split on both sides except for the bottom one and one half inch on one side and one and three quarters inches on the other. The bottom is split in the center except for one and one quarter inches on one side and one and five eighths inches on the other. There are small cuts, tears, and jags all along the upper edge. There is a stain on the Can't By Me Love side in the lower left corner and at the top center (See image below), perhaps a result of coffee. However, the texture of the paper has not been altered. Despite the problems stated, the sleeve has some ring wear but only mild to moderate wrinkling and other surface wear. The record visually and play grades in VG condition. The record also has the numbers "1" and "2" written on each side with an orange magic marker with the original owner's obvious preference for the You Can't Do That side. There is no "subsidiary" perimeter print, and "Music" does appear in the publishing credits. The only thing that is noteworthy about the record is that it parallels the condition of the sleeve, and it is the original record that accompanied it. The authenticity of the sleeve is guaranteed for a lifetime. This sleeve is extremely rare. A stone cold mint copy would certainly go for at least $1,000, or perhaps even, the stratosphere!
