Please Please Me / Ask Me Why Parlophone 45 R 4983
A very early first pressing from 1963, features red labels. The PT Tax Code embossed on the Side A label indicates a pressing from late '62 / early '63 as this changed to MT in January 63. So this was pressed ahead of the release date.
A couple of other features mark this out from the ordinary.
It features crossover labels: Side A includes the "Made In GB" statement, but side B omits this.
But the most interesting feature is that side B includes the "Demo" stamper letters 'JR' in the run-out! These stampers were intended only for use on Demonstration copies, but here it appears on a commercial pressing! Side A includes a regular commercial '3 GO' stamper.
Condition
A little spindle hole wear to label centres. Both labels have small neat initials. Vinyl retains nice sheen to both sides, although with some surface marks. Plays through with no skips or stalling, light crackle here and there but overall great sound.
