PLEASE PLEASE ME

Mega Rare

1963 3rd UK Mono Pressing on

PARLOPHONE PMC1202

with the 331/3 text after the catalogue number!!!

This is the original Please Please Me 3rd pressing Mono LP on the first yellow/black label after the gold/black labels. The was the very first appearance of the famous Yellow and Black Parlophone label.

The distinguishing mark on this label is the presence of a small 33 1/3 next to the matrix number (XEX.422) towards the left hand side of the label - see scan. This variation, sometimes referred to the 'crossover' version, appeared only for an extremely limited run. Parlophone soon realised that the large 33 1/3 above the yellow Parlophone title (see scan) made this smaller 33 1/3 redundant so they rapidly changed the labels. Nearly all 3rd pressings of this LP do not have this 33 1/3 feature.

It does of course have all of the other features of a 1963 3rd Mono UK pressing i.e. "The Parlophone...." text on the label rim and without "Recording first published" text and  without the "Sold in the UK text". It has the large MONO on the front cover and comes in its E J Day triple flip-back cover with an Emitex poly-lined inner sleeve.

Check out this excellent site for further details on this rarity.....

Cover: This is the triple flip back E J Day cover with the flatter flipbacks. VG+. No writings/doodles but the upper rear flip back has been sellotaped where it has come away from the cover.

Emitex inner poly-lined sleeve: VG+. Taped along one seam.

Labels: Excellent.  XEX421/2-1N. No writings/doodles/stickers.

Vinyl: Looks Good+. No feelable scratches but does have a lot of feathering/surface marks. Amazingly it plays VG+. Only the lightest crackle in places. No skips/jumps on my system and I did not get any pops/clicks. This is a real tribute to the quality of this thick heavy duty UK pressing.  A pleasurable listening experience.

Postage & packaging: £3.50 (UK) £5 (EUROPE) & £7 (REST OF THE WORLD)

Gradings.......

Mint - The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality.

Excellent - The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality.

Very Good - The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality despite noticeable surface marks and occasional light scratches.

Good - The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and more significant scratches.

Fair - The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise, it may even jump.

Poor - The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc

Bad - The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection filler.
