Earliest Stampers
1st pressing labels with "The Parlophone..." text around the label perimeter and no "Sold in the UK" text.
Plus the 'Dick James' credits for "I Saw Her Standing There" and another five tracks - see label scans. Later pressings had these tracks credited to "Northern Songs".
Cover: 1st pressing cover with the Angus McBean photo credited to the far right hand side at the base of the front cover - under the 's' in songs rather than the 'g'. It has the triple flip back E J Day cover with the rear triple flipbacks and large 'mono' text on the front cover. The cover has some wear to the edges and corners and a name + inked out name on rear cover & tape residue. See photos.
Original Emitex inner poly-lined sleeve: Split on one side plus small tear in top corner.
Labels: Although there are no names or doodles on the labels, there are some scratches and the gold lettering has faded over the years - see scans. These are the earliest matt 'type 1' labels.
Vinyl: Not play tested but looks 'Poor'. There are lots of scratches and a dink in Track 2 Side 2. It will have surface noise and may well skip in places. If you want a pressing to play for audio enjoyment, then this is not for you. If you want a rare 1st pressing to add to your Beatles collection at a low starting price, then this may be it.

Gradings.......
Mint - The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality.
Excellent - The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality.
Very Good - The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality despite noticeable surface marks and occasional light scratches.
Good - The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and more significant scratches.
Fair - The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise, it may even jump.
Poor - The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc
Bad - The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection filler.
