Part of an astonishing collection of records I have agreed to sell on behalf of a friend, here is a lovely UK FIRST PRESS copy of The Beatles' legendary 'Please Please Me' mono LP, Parlophone PMC 1202, 1N/1N matrices, the VERY EARLIEST BLACK/GOLD LABEL ORIGINAL PRESSING, and in VERY NICE CONDITION!!
Front-laminated Ernest J. Day flipback single sleeve with large mono logo grades VG. Laminate is very nice, glossy and clean, super colour! There are some light edge creases, a little corner wear and a corner stain top right at the front also visible at the back. There is a little flipback loss at the back top corner, opening edge and on spine side, and there is a small seam split at the opening edge on the bottom (about 1.5 ins). Also a bit of browning to the back, but all of these faults are relatively minor on what is generally a very nice sleeve.
Vinyl side 1 has three long skating lines, only one of which causes a few clicks on several rotations, and there are also some lighter hairlines not affecting audio. Side 2 has a skating line across tracks 3, 4 and 5, again causing a few light clicks, and there are some lighter lines again with no effect on audio. Early EMI/Parlophone pressings really were superb, and this one is no exception. It plays the mono recording very strongly indeed, with only a few clicks as mentioned, and a little light background noise on occasion, so I would give a visual grading of VG+ and a playgrade of EX for this rare LP.
