THE BEATLES-PLEASE PLEASE ME
The Beatles: 'PLEASE PLEASE ME' RARE 3rd pressing PARLOPHONE **MONO** LP (without "RECORDING FIRST PUBLISHED 1963" label text ) - PMC 1202 - This is a mega-rare 1st Y&B label pressing from 1963, bought only weeks after the original black & gold labels were phased out. This variant was only pressed in very low numbers and would very soon be replaced by the much more common Y&B labels, (with "RECORDING FIRST PUBLISHED" text).
The Album comes in its original Emitex Inner sleeve (EX cond) and is housed in its Original Front Laminated 'Flip Back' Ernest J Day Sleeve, with the large 'mono' wording printed on the top right hand corner of the front of the sleeve. Both sides of the record labels are very clean and there is a slight impression (although no ink) of a previous owner's name to both labels, but these really are barely visible. The scans below show this. The labels are in near EXCELLENT condition. Both sides of the Vinyl Disc are graded VG+, showing light surface wear only, but with absolutely no major problems. In fact the disc is audibly EXCELLENT. The sleeve is EXCELLENT, again with no major problems, very clean front and back, with no handwriting, splits, tears or sections missing. This is now an extremely hard to find Beatles item, the first Y&B issue after the even more elusive black & gold label pressings. Do not underestimate the rarity of this item!

Of the fourteen tracks on "Please Please Me," eight were written by The Beatles, that is, Lennon and McCartney. One of the amazing facts about this album, especially by today's recording standards, is that ten of the fourteen tracks were recorded and completed in one day, on February 11, 1963 in a 15-hour session. This was more of a standard operational fact in the record business during this time, as the companies wanted to ensure the LP reached the teenage market as soon as possible, hopefully before the group died out. They didn't know it then, but this was certainly the last thing to worry about with The Beatles. But still, this album was a risk, because at the time of it's release, The Beatles had not yet had a number one hit. We can all credit George Martin for having the insight to believe in The Beatles. It is true however, that George Martin at this moment in time, believed that rock 'n' roll was a thing of the past, and would not last much longer. This is one of the reasons The Beatles included six songs written and previously recorded by others on this album.
