THE BEATLES! WHY/CRY FOR A SHADOW (MGM #13227 1st pressing w/TITLE SLEEVE, 1964): MINT 45 & VG/VG+ PICTURE SLEEVE w/number on label.
One of the scarcest of 1964 BEATLES commercial releases. This MINT GEM 45 LOOKS UNPLAYED. It's a $200 single without the sleeve!
But it has it...a RARE TITLE SLEEVE without writing, stickers or seam splits. GUARANTEED GENUINE; the 45 slips perfectly into the sleeve. It's got staple holes & a number stamped on one side (see photos), but it'll hold that spot nicely until you're ready to shuck $400-$500 for a clean M- sleeve.

In 1964 MGM purchased the rights to Love Me Do & after it reached #26, they tried again with Why. No dice; it stalled at #88, creating a genuine rarity in a year with many million-selling Beatles 45s.
B-side Cry For A Shadow has a couple of distinctions: it's the only songwriting collaboration between George & John & it's one of only 2 instrumentals the Fabs ever recorded & released (the other is Flying from Magical Mystery Tour).
