Description

Here's an unusual version of the Beatles' Let It Be box set, issued in 1970. There is the outer laminated sleeve, inner box to house the set (no tray for the book, though) and the 160 page photo book (in itself rare, especially in this condition), along with an export version of the LP, catalogue number PPCS 7096, on the Apple label but with the Parlophone logo on the back of the LP sleeve.

What may explain this combination is the fact that the friend I obtained this set from had a relative living in Spain who bought the record in that country on release, so whether the export LP made its way into a box over there or over here, I don't know. In any case, this still makes for a rare set.

The outer sleeve is in very good condition indeed for its age and the fact that it had to be taken off every time the LP was taken out! It has a couple of creases front left, a little laminate lift bottom right, a small corner bump on the back and a 2.5cm crease on the top edge at the end.

The inner box has quite a bit of creasing to the flaps and a 1cm tear to one of the folding edges, but it is, in all, in strong and sturdy condition - just used, that's all!

The Get Back book really is in super condition - where many of these books have fallen apart or had pages loosened and lost over time, this one has strong, tight binding and the pages are clear, bright and flat - the first two endpapers and the front cover have a crease top right, but the rest are perfect. the laminate has a little ageing to it, but that's to be expected, I think. I would grade the book as EX.

The LP sleeve is VG condition, mainly because of a mysterious stain on the front and back which looks like a bit of paint spillage but I daresay with the right chemicals this could be removed; there's also a bit of ringwear, a couple of creases and a bit of laminate lift on the front, bottom right.

The matrix numbers on the vinyl are YEX 773-3U and 774-3U. I would grade the vinyl as EX minus, as there are a few light surface marks which do not affect the generally excellent playing quality. There is a little crackle at the beginning of both sides, but this subsides and the record plays extremely well with no noise throughout.

All in all a very nice box set with an unusual version of the LP and a great copy of the book.

The set weighs a kilo, so with secure packing the postage costs will be as follows:

Standard UK P&P £6.00, EUR Â£8.00, rest of world £14.00. Any extra security (eg. Recorded/Special Delivery/Airsure/Signed For) will be an extra cost.
