Description
Here is an LP that really changed the world of pop culture! It was the Beatles 9th LP that was released on June 1, 1967 (which came to be known as “The Summer of Love”). This LP reached Number 1 on all of the charts and stayed at Number 1 for 24 weeks!
In this auction:
· “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” by The Beatles
· This is a UK Pressing.
· It is PARLOPHONE RECORDS PMC 7027.
· It is the ORIGINAL UK MONO PRESSING with the Parlophone yellow and black labels.
· This LP was released June 1, 1967.
· It is an ORIGINAL MONO (monaural) PRESSING.
· The labels have the statement “SOLD IN THE U.K. SUBJECT TO RESALE PRICE CONDITIONS, SEE PRICE LISTS”.
· The trail-off for SIDE 1 has Matrix Numbers XEX 637-1 with “MRG” at the 3 o’clock position and “6” at the 9 o’clock position.
· The trail-off for SIDE 2 has Matrix Numbers XEX 638-1 with “MAA” at the 3 o’clock position and “10” at the 10 o’clock position.
· There are NO BANDS between the songs.
· The LABELS have only a few LIGHT spindle trails, evident when angled to the light which suggests that this LP hasn’t had much play over the years. There is also VERY minimal spindle-hole wear on either side.
· The COVER may have been a wide-spine cover. I’ve never seen a wide-spine cover, but this one looks like it may have been crushed. It looks like a crease runs up the middle of the spine. (I’ve included an image of the spine for judgment by those who know.)
· This GATEFOLD LP is ALL COMPLETE with its ORIGINAL INNER SLEEVE and ORIGINAL INSERT.
· It has its ORIGINAL “FOOLS” WHITE, PINK & RED INNER SLEEVE with “MADE IN GREAT BRITAIN” and “PATENTS APPLIED FOR” printed in a lower corner. This inner sleeve is in VG+ Condition with a 2 ½ inch split in the middle of one side.
· And it has its ORIGINAL DARK GREEN INSERT which is in Near Mint Condition. “Peter Blake/Jann Haworth” are printed in cursive print at the bottom right corner of the insert.
· The COVER is in VERY STRONG VG to WEAK VG+ CONDITION with light to moderate overall wear on the front and rear covers. There is light wear on 3 corners. Other areas to note are a couple of small white spots at the lower right edge of the front cover where it looks like the slick and lamination are missing. There is some damage to the lower right corner on the rear cover at the bottom of the spine and a push that has small 2-inch x 1-inch “crescent” (separation) in the lamination at that corner. There are also 3-4 very light small creases on the cover. A 1 ¾ -inch piece of lamination is missing on the spine after the word “BAND”.
· The VINYL is in STRONG VG+ CONDITION with just several very light/surface hairlines/scuffs.
Here is an INCREDIBLY HARD-TO-FIND ORIGINAL CLASSIC LP that deserves a place in EVERY serious Beatles collector’s record collection. IT’S A TRUE RARITY! Many copies of this LP are spent, torn and worn due to age and play over the lifetime of the buyers. It’s hard-to-find in any condition, but this one is better than just any old copy.
Don’t miss out on this scarce opportunity to own a piece of 1960s music history!
