THE BEATLES - REVOLVER
Very nice copy of this 1966 UK early press Beatles classic with the excellent MONO sound quality and Klaus Voorman signature being real highlights
Label number : PMC 7009 Matrix numbers : XEX 605 - 2, XEX 606 - 2 Stampers : 5 12 12 RTH / 6 RLR
The condition of the vinyl is a solid very good plus (VG+) - the vinyl has retained a lovely jet black sheen and remains flat and weighty. In normal daylight each side looks virtually unmarked and it is only with close inspection under a bright light that a few very wispy hairlines, paper scuff grazes and extremely faint scuff marks come into view on each side - each non-obvious, non-feelable and appearing to be purely superficial though there is the very occasional very light click and on side 2 a couple of very short passages of extremely light background crackle - nothing to spoil an overall great listen though. Excellent (EX) condition labels with the only blemishes being some small and extremely faint spindle trails adjacent to the centre hole on each label indicating that the record has had a reasonable number of plays. Very good plus (VG+) condition original and rarer 1st Garrod & Lofthouse front-side laminated flipback outer sleeve with firm and unscuffed edges (just the hint of a 2cm very light scuff in the middle of the bottom edge), firm spine with all spine text intact, well defined right angle corners with barely any rubbing and some very minor diagonal creasing at the bottom right corner, firm opening edges with no fraying, no laminate lift, and all art work, colours, photos and sleeve text remaining in impressively crisp condition with great definition still. The only blemishes are some 1cm laminate crinkles adjacent and perpendicular to the spine and bottom edge, the hint of some very minor ringwear towards the reverse side opening edge, the occasional small and minor light handling/storage mark and a small area of very light discoloration on the top flipback. Still remaining fully functional and highly presentable, and hard to believe that this sleeve is now 60 years of age! Note the "Klaus Voorman" signature in thick black permanent marker pen on the front side, increasing the rarity of this copy (Klaus Voorman was known as the "5th Beatle" and designed the Revolver album cover). Overall excellent (EX) MONO audio quality with no skips, jumps, repeats, sticks, or distortion. You may come across the odd random low level click, none of which interferes with playback, and any background crackle is at an absolute minimum with just the hint of some extremely light crackle during a couple of short passages on side 2 - insignificant. Every track remains a great listen on this wonderfully timeless LP. Comes with original plain white "MADE IN GREAT BRITAIN" inner sleeve with "PATENT Nos..." text, no splits or tears, some mild creasing, and some sellotape marks where I suspect photo cut-outs of the band were once located. Note that I always insert the vinyl into a poly-lined plain white sleeve in order to protect the original.
An overall very nice conditipon UK very early press copy of this Beatles gem, with the Kaus Voorman signature and impressive MONO sound quality being real highlights.
