Description
You are bidding on a very rare EX+ to NM 1st pressing of the classic 'Revolver' LP by The Beatles. T
This extremely rare pressing includes the withdrawn 'remix 11' version of 'Tomorrow Never Know', available only on copies with the XEX 606-1 side 2 matrix. This was withdrawn on the day of issue due to Lennon not being happy with this particular mix.
Remix 11 is extremely rare, and is believed to have been manufactured on only the first day of UK pressing. Most copies have matrix 606-2 or 606-3 on side B, and are the standard version heard on all copies of other countries' pressings. Remix 11 is mono remix 11 while the standard version is remix 8. In the rare Remix 11 the vocal is louder and clearer over the effects, the fade is slightly longer and has more piano, and the effects are faded up quite differently.
This 1966 1st MONO pressing is on the black & yellow Parlophone label: PMC 7009
Both labels carry the 'Sold in UK..' text & 'Gramophone Co..' rims.
This earliest of labels show the initial 'Dr. Robert' spelling on the side 2 label.
The 'KT' tax/price code is visible in the center of the side 1 label.
Housed in the rare front laminated tri-flipback 'Ernest J. Day' printed mono cover
Complete with the 'Patents Applied For' plain white inner-sleeve.
This has the following 1st press matrix numbers, mothers and stampers:
Side 1: XEX 605-2 3LSide 2: XEX 606-1 1N
Vinyl: The vinyl looks fantastic and has retained its original high sheen. It has clearly been well cared for. Under bright light, just fine hairlines, scuffs and marks were visible, but nothing significant.
Labels: Both labels look superb with absolutely no damage, writing, stickers etc and only the slightest of spindle marks.
Sleeve: The sleeve is as close to mint as I've seen. Extremely clean with no damage, writing, splits, tears or stickers etc and only the slightest signs of use. There is no visible discoloration, two 1 to 1.25 inch creases on the front by the opening. The flipbacks are perfect with no tears or folding. The back is in beautiful as new condition.
Edge wear: There is absolutely no wear to the spine or top and bottom edges. The spine is solid and firm and the text is 100% legible. There are just light signs of use at the opening (two small creases from 1 to 1.25 inches).
Corner wear: none
Inner sleeve: Original plain 'Patents applied for' inner sleeve is NM also. This is an excellent example of this desirable first pressing.
