Description
ARTIST: THE BEATLES
TITLE: REVOLVER
LABEL: PARLOPHONE PMC 7009
This is a copy of the first issue of Revolver which was withdrawn on the first day of issue because it played a version of 'Tomorrow Never Knows' which George Martin wasn't happy with.
This is the MONO first pressing and the matrix number of side 2 is XEX 606-1. This record is not a mint copy (its VG+ overall) but it plays excellent with only light unobtrusive crackle in places and no nasty clicks, jumps, repeats or horrendous groove damage.
The LP retains a nice lustre but it does have a number of light scuffs visible under light and two more visible marks but these are not scratches and they do not sound during play. I would conservatively grade it as EX for sound and VG for visual appearance.
The labels are clean with no writing (see photos) and side 1 has the KT tax code. The matrix numbers are XEX 605-2 and XEX 606-1 and stampers are 1 and GP on side 1 and 1 and A on side 2 - it is the earliest first press I believe.
The cover is showing some signs of handling but is overall flat with sharp edges and totally readable spine - no writing or stains. It is the rarer Garrod & Lofthouse printed sleeve. The front has a few slight creases in the laminate as does the spine. There is small mark on Ringo's chin (see photo). The flipbacks are intact and the back is clean and unworn. Overall VG- This is a rare item so I've been careful to describe it carefully so as not to disappoint. I'd say. the great thing about this LP is that is sounds great and until a mint copy comes along will be a fine addition to the collection.
