So Rare in this condition!
Another from my personal collection of UK Beatles records that I have accumilated over a period of more than 45 years! I have more than 1000 UK Beatles albums alone in my collection, (I rarely ever purchased foreign pressings) I have always been fascinated even to this day, by the differences in the audio mixes from one vinyl to another which is why I have so many variations in my collection. Here on offer is a totaly original 1966 copy of The Beatles Revolver featureing -2 -2 Matrix endings very early pressing featuring ''1'' mother stampers on side 2 and miss spelt DR.Robert on label side 2 (later press was corrected to Doctor Robert')! The rarety and collectability about this album is that this has obviously barely ever been played, which is quite rare on a 49 year old Beatles record, which are normally found played to death! The 1st issue Garrod & Lofthouse flipback cover is in exceptional condition, unusually super glossy in appearance and white, (often seen yellowed with age, not this one!) also the spine is near perfect without the normal crushing! The vinyl has also very minimal signs of use ,in fact I would say this has barely been played no more than a handfull of times ever!, barely three or four very feint spider traces on each side unbelievably rare like this! I have Play tested the vinyl and recorded this for you to hear for your self in the player below. At very loud volume prior to listing, importantly using a dedicated mono cartridge, the audio is up there at the very top, very clear and vibrant throughout without signs of any distortion what so ever! I have graded the audio at least excellent plus to near as mint in my opinion! Probably one of the best copies that you could ever hope for! These original UK Mono variations are the best sounding audio format available in my opinion.

Revolver is the seventh album by English rock group The Beatles, released on 5 August 1966. Many of the tracks on Revolver are marked by an electric guitar-rock sound, in contrast with their previous, folk rock inspired Rubber Soul. It reached number one on both the British chart and American chart and stayed at the top spot for seven weeks and six weeks, respectively!
The cover illustration was created by German-born bassist and artist Klaus Voormann, one of the Beatles' oldest friends from their days at the Star Club in Hamburg. Voormann's illustration, part line drawing and part collage, included photographs by Robert Whitaker, who also took the back cover photographs and many other images of the group between 1964 and 1966, such as the infamous "butcher cover" for Yesterday and Today. Voormann's own photo as well as his name (Klaus O. W. Voormann) is worked into Harrison's hair on the right-hand side of the cover!
The title "Revolver", like "Rubber Soul" before it, is a pun, referring both to a kind of handgun as well as the "revolving" motion of the record as it is played on a turntable.
The Beatles had a difficult time coming up with this title. According to Barry Miles in his book Paul McCartney: Many Years from Now, the title that the four had originally wanted was Abracadabra, until they discovered that another band had already used it. After that, opinion split: Lennon wanted to call it Four Sides of the Eternal Triangle and Starr jokingly suggested After Geography, playing on The Rolling Stones' recently released Aftermath LP.
Other suggestions included Magical Circles, Beatles on Safari, Pendulum, and, finally, Revolver, whose wordplay was the one that all four agreed upon. The title was chosen while the band were on tour in Japan in JuneñJuly 1966. Due to security measures, they spent much of their time in their Tokyo Hilton hotel room; the name Revolver was selected as all four collaborated on a large psychedelic painting!
The Beatles' unfolding innovation in the recording studio reaches its apex with the album's final track. Lennon's "Tomorrow Never Knows" was one of the first songs in the emerging genre of psychedelic music, and included such groundbreaking techniques as reverse guitar, processed vocals and looped tape effects. Musically, it is drone-like, with a strongly syncopated, repetitive drum-beat!.
The lyrics were inspired by Timothy Leary's book, The Psychedelic Experience: A Manual Based on The Tibetan Book of the Dead, although the title itself was inspired by a Ringo Starr malapropism. Much of the backing track consists of a series of prepared tape loops, stemming from Lennon's and McCartney's interest in and experiments with magnetic tape and musique concrËte techniques at that time.
Lennon and McCartney prepared a series of loops at home, and these then were added to the pre-recorded backing track.
This was reportedly done live in a single take, with multiple tape recorders running simultaneously, some of the longer loops extending out of the control room and down the corridor. Lennon's processed lead vocal was another innovation.
Always in search of ways to enhance or alter the sound of his voice, he gave a directive to EMI engineer Geoff Emerick that he wanted to sound like he was singing from the top of a high mountain. Emerick solved the problem by routing a signal from the recording console into the studio's Leslie speaker, giving Lennon's vocal its ethereal, filtered quality (he was later reprimanded by the studio's management for doing this).
A key production technique used for the first time on this album was automatic double tracking (ADT), invented by EMI engineer Ken Townsend on 6 April 1966!!. This technique used two linked tape recorders to automatically create a doubled vocal track.
The standard method was to double the vocal by singing the same piece twice onto a multitrack tape, a task Lennon particularly disliked.
The Beatles were reportedly delighted with the invention, and used it extensively on Revolver. ADT quickly became a standard pop production technique, and led to related developments, including the artificial chorus effect!

The Vinyl
This is the original thicker , heavier chunky slab of vinyl only found like this on the earliest original pressings! (Later press are much more flimsier and less robust)!
The vinyl lays perfectly flat on the turntable and is free of any warps. The vinyl has retained its original sheen from new and I find it hard to even see a blemish on the playing surface! Only close inspection could there possibly be light wyspy surface marks sleeve removal type only, (Ifind it hard to see any at all) but importantly there are no audio sounding marks or needle marks that would cause any clicks or pops that I heard at all!
The audio quality
I have played this track for track at very loud volume prior to listing at very loud volume, importantly using a dedicated mono cartridge! From the moment that the needle hits the playing surface , it is obvious that this vinyl not only visually but audibly has barely ever been played no more than a hand ful of plays only! The audio is stunning cristal clear and vibrant, very bright and clear throughout without any signs of distortion at all and plays with a lovely deep bassey feel only found like this on early pressings! I would grade the audio at least excellent plus to near mint in my opinion! The Best that you could possibly find!
Please Note! I always add this disclaimer! This album has been stored in a case laying dormant for more than 45 years! A constant clean before each play is recommended. A build up of dirt and dust in the grooves over the years causes static/ticks A constant cleaning before each play will reduce static and enhance the audio quality.
The Labels
These are the original Parlophone labels feature ''Sold In The UK....'' text across the labels (only early UK press.) The K.T tax code is stamped on side 2 (Only Early press) Miss Spelt Dr.Robert on Side 2 label (later pressing were corrected 'Doctor Robert') ''The Parlophone Co...'' rim text (only early press) The labels are rich in colour and are very clean all text is readable. It is obvious to me that this vinyl has only had very minimal play only by the limited spider marks that can be seen around the spindle hole. Please note I find it hard to count more than three or for spider marks on each side, incredibly rare to find like this! The spindle hole is free of any wear and of course is perfectly round!

This is the original EMI plain white sleeve no splits or tares light creasing with age only!
The Cover
This Is The Original 1st issue Patents Pending Garrod & Lofthouse flip back cover features miss spelt 'Dr Robert' (Later Press corrected "Doctor Robert") in absolutely tip top stunning condition through out! No splits or tares. The original pinched ended spine is near perfect and square no crushing/creasing all text is readable! What makes this so unbeleivable , No nasty creases to report so rare to find like this! Very minor thumb creases to mention on the front are only noticed if looked for. No ringware! The cover has always been seperated from the vinyl and sleeve since purchased from new! The rear is also lovely, clean and bright almost like new! no nasty names written no creases and amaizingly no ringware or rubbingware! Unbeleivably rare like this! Graded at least excellent plus to very near mint! Never need to upgrade from this cover!
