Another from my personal collection of Beatles records accumilated over a period of more than 35 years! I have more than 1000 UK Beatles albums alone! Here is a very rare and hard to ever find Stereo 1st pressing of the Beatles Rubber Soul album. So hard to ever find than the more common and plentiful Mono issues. This album is in exceptional condition for 43 years old! In my opinion this has only ever had minimal play which is also a rarety in its self (normally only ever found played to death) The album has always been stored by me with the vinyl seperated from the cover and sleeve to protect the album from damage! This is how I have always stored my vinyls!!

Rubber Soul is the sixth album by The Beatles, first released in December 1965. Produced by George Martin, the album was recorded in just over four weeks to make the Christmas market. It was a major artistic achievement for the band, attaining widespread critical and commercial success, with reviewers taking note of The Beatles' developing musical vision. In 2003, the album was ranked number 5 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time!!!!!!!.

Musically, the Beatles broadened their sound, most notably with influences drawn from the contemporary folk-rock of the Byrds and Bob Dylan. The album also saw the Beatles broadening rock n' roll's instrumental resources, most notably on "Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown)". This track is generally credited as being the first pop recording to use the sitar, an exotic Indian stringed instrument, and "Norwegian Wood" sparked a musical craze for the sound of the novel instrument in the mid-Sixties. The song is now acknowledged as one of the cornerstones of what is now usually called "world music" and it was a major landmark in the trend towards incorporating non-Western musical influences into Western popular music. Harrison had recently been introduced to Indian classical music and the sitar by David Crosby of the Byrds. He soon became fanatically interested in the genre and began taking sitar lessons from renowned Indian sitar virtuoso Ravi Shankar!!.

Recording innovations were also made during the recording of the album — for instance, the keyboard solo in "In My Life" sounds like a harpsichord, but was actually played on a piano. George Martin found he could not match the tempo of the song while playing in this baroque style, so he tried recording with the tape running at half-speed. When played back at normal speed during the mixdown, the sped-up sound gave the illusion of a harpsichord. Other production innovations included the use of electronic sound processing on many instruments, notably the heavily compressed and equalised piano sound on Lennon's "The Word"; this distinctive effect soon became extremely popular in the genre of psychedelic music!!!!!!.

Lyrically, the album was a major progression. Though a smattering of earlier Beatles songs had expressed romantic doubt and negativity, the songs on Rubber Soul represented a pronounced development in sophistication, thoughtfulness, and ambiguity. In particular, the relationships between the sexes moved from simpler boy-girl love songs to more nuanced, even negative portrayals. "Norwegian Wood", one of the most famous examples and often cited as the Beatles' first conscious assimilation of the lyrical innovations of Bob Dylan, sketches a poetically ambiguous extra-marital affair between the singer and a mysterious girl. "Drive My Car" serves as a satirical piece of reverse sexism. Songs like "I'm Looking Through You", "You Won't See Me", and "Girl" express more emotionally complex, even bitter and downbeat portrayals of romance, and "Nowhere Man" was the first Beatles song to move beyond a romantic subject!!!!!!!!.

After completing the album and the accompanying single "We Can Work It Out" and "Day Tripper", the Beatles were exhausted from years of virtually non-stop recording, touring, and film work. They subsequently took a three-month break during the first part of 1966, and used this down time exploring new directions that would colour their subsequent musical work. These became immediately apparent in the next album, Revolver.

Until very late in their career, the "primary" version of the Beatles' albums was always the monophonic mix. According to Beatles historian Mark Lewisohn, the group, producer George Martin, and the Abbey Road engineers devoted most of their time and attention to the mono mixdowns, and the band were usually all present throughout these sessions and actively participated in them. Even with their landmark Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band LP, the stereo mixdowns were considered less important than the mono version and were completed in far less time than the mono mixdown.

While the stereo version of the original release of Rubber Soul was similar to that of their earliest albums, featuring mainly vocals on the right channel and instruments on the left, it was not produced in the same manner . The early albums were recorded on twin-track tape, and they were intended only for production of monaural records, so they kept vocals and instruments separated allowing the two parts to later be mixed in proper proportion. By this time, however, the Beatles were recording on four-track tape, which allowed a stereo master to be produced with vocals in the center and instruments on both sides, as evidenced in their prior albums Beatles for Sale and Help!. But Martin was looking for a way to easily produce a stereo album which sounded good on a monaural record player. In what he admits was some experimentation, he mixed down the four-track master tape to stereo with vocals on the right, instruments on the left, and nothing in the middle.

The vinyl,

This is the original thicker heavier and deeper grooved vinyl and more robust than later pressings. On initial visual inspection this vinyl's playing surface  looks   SUPERBE retaining its original very glossy sheen from new and lies perfectly flat on the turntable!!!.Amaizingly on inspection of the vinyl I can barely see a blemish! Only in strong light could possibly ant very light whysp sleeve removal scuff lines possibly be seen these have little if no effect on the awesome audio that i could hear at all! Cristal clear and vibrant throughout! 

The Audio

I have played this vinyl track for track as usual at high volume on a top system! Please note! There were (no) audio sounding marks or scratches that i heard during playback. This vinyl sounded awesome cristal clear and vibrant through out!! Importantly!, (no) signs of grooveware or distortion or that this has been overplayed!!! (no) anoying clicks or pops that i heard at all during the audio absolutely amaizing to find like this!!!cristal clear and vibrant throughout Please allow for some very light static  perhapes in quiet places during some tracks like 'Michael', and perhapes the odd tick in between a track or two .Remember this is 42 years old! There were (no) signs of any grooveware or that this vinyl has been overplayed in any way at all. I have played this through track for track and it is my opinion that this audio is absolutely superbe for an original 42 year old vinyl!!!!! superbe and awesome original very very rare STEREO pressing very sought after and collectable!!!!I would class myself as highly critical! Please look at my completed listings of records that i have sold of this calaber and you will see that i normally get it right!!!Audio must be AT LEASTexplus in my opinion!  

please note! I always add this disclaimer! That although I never heard any majorproblems at all during the playback of this vinyl and i have given my honest opinion when describing the audio quality,, Please allow for the odd static tick\click and light crackle during some quiet parts here and there (not) consistant through out the audio. Remember that this is an original(not a reissue) that is 43 years old and would have originally been played on a 43 year old system!!! Please look at my completed listings of records that i have sold of this calaber and you will see from my 100% positive feed back that i normally get it right!!! The audio is awesome on all frequencies and will be hard to surpass!!!A constant clean is recomended before each play,,, Please note! this album has been stored in a case for at leasrt 25 years, a build up of dirt and dust over the years from laying dormant causes static crackle\ticks a constant clean will reduce this and will enhance the audio quality!!

These feature the (YELLOW AND BLACK) Parlophone labels (only early press) (see photo)  Please note! Bare minimal and very few spidering or spider marks can bee seen only angled to the light! Very rare to find in this awesome barely played condition!  this has definately not been overplayed at all in my opinion, due to the awsome audio that this produces!! sold in the UK ......'' is featured across the labels (only 1st press) and ''The Gramophone Co........'' around the rim (only 1st press) There is little if (no) spindle ware the hole is perfectly round!!!!!K.T tax code is stamped on side 2. (only early press)!!! ''made in gt Britain'' is featured (UK press)!!

This is the original  GARROD & LOFTHOUSE fully laminated  EARLIEST 'PATENTS PENDING' (large) flipback (STEREO) cover in really superbe condition !!Unusual and absolutely super super rich colours very very rare!!  very very near perfect!! PLEASE NOTE! SO RARE TO EVER FIND THESE COVERS IN THIS CONDITION!!!!!! Amaizingly with (no) real storageware to the corners at all to mention! (no) real creasing  on both the front\laminate and back UNBELEIVABLE  Any ringware to be seen, you would really have to angle this cover to the light to notice (very rare)  Please note (no) splits or tares, The rear is exceptionaly clean (see photos) Normally seen very grubby  (see photos)!!!!!! These originals are extreemely hard to find like this!!!  with (no) horrible names or writing, superbe!!! The spine is superbe indeed with clear writing ''Rubber Soul -The Beatles'' on the spine!!! This cover is strong and straight as it should be and so rare to find like this!!!! A superbe example!!! Must be ex plus!!!

This is the original EMITEX advertising sleeve with 'IMPORTANT'that was originally issued with this pressing in superbe condition (see photos) becoming fragile with age just very (very) light staining\fading\creasing with age! Please note the vinyl is now stored seperately from the sleeve!!! This is nice and clean and straight and original!!!!!
