Description
BEATLES 1965 RUBBER SOUL LP MONO 1st Pressing "Loud-Cut 570-1
On auction is a copy of the rare very first pressing of the Beatles Rubber Soul Mono LP known as the " Loud Cut" edition. This was the initial pressing that had the incorrect version of Side 1 with a matrix printed on the vinyl of 570-1. The copy was only available for a few days and was withdrawn when the mistake was discovered. These copies are becoming rare as collectors buy them up as an investment for the future. Prices have increased significantly over the last few years and very soon you will no longer find them on ebay.
Now to give you the information concerning this specific copy.
Cover
The cover is the rarer EJ Day copy and in excellent condion, a nice clean cover. The front has a few creases in the laminate which you nearly always get with these covers. The spine is excellent with the album name clearly read. The rear is slightly darkened with age which is usual. The flip backs are all intact. There is no writing, stains or stickers on the cover and no tears or rips. All in all it is quite a nice cover.
Insert
The insert is the correct Emidec tracing paper lined issue. I would grade this a Vg+. It is all intact with a few creases no rips or tears. It has darked slightly with age which is common with these inserts.
Labels
Yellow/Black labels with ' Sold in UK etc. across the label and Gramophone Co around edge of label also p1965
I would grade this as visually Vg+ or Ex-. The labels are in nice condition and would normally grade Ex+ but I have downgraded because there are quite a few fine spindle marks around the centre hole.
Vinyl
Stamper Codes & Matrix Numbers
Side 1 570-1 G HO Side 2 580-1 3 MO
You will see that side 1 which is the rare "Loud Cut" recording has a mother stamper G which is the first run made. They used the code name GRAMOPHONE to identify the stamper code with G being the first run then R the next and so on.
The record plays very well without any clicks , pops or jumps. Visually the surface looks excellent with a few very fine lines which can be seen in bright light. No major scratches on the vinyl
Overall
Taking into account the record as a whole I think Ex is a fair grading. Plays well and visually looks fine except for the odd fine line and some spindle marks around centre.
All records are from, my personal Beatles vinyl collection which I have built up over many years. However there comes a time when you have to start pruning down your collection. You can buy with confidence, 100% feedback and almost all for selling. If you have any questions then please contact me. For UK sale only.
