Description

THE BEATLES - RUBBER SOUL

A nice, highly presentable copy of this increasingly rare 1966 UK early yellow & black Parlophone pressing, MONO, PMC 1267 in overall very good condition with glossy vinyl, impressive audio quality, excellent original flip back outer sleeve, and excellent original inner sleeve

The dead wax matrix numbers are :

Side 1  XEX 579 - 4 with stampers "0" and "G L R" at 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock respectively

Side 2  XEX 579 - 4 with stampers "43" and "G0G" at 9 o'clock and 2.30 o'clock respectively

The overall appearance and condition of the heavy duty vinyl is a solid very good (VG). The vinyl is nicely flat and in normal daylight comes across as excellent with no obvious marks on the viny. With closer scrutiny under a bright light some hairlines and light scuff marks do come into view on both sides, all of which seem superficial and are non-feelable except for the tail end of a longer (6cm) hairline and a further small (6mm) very light scratch (both of which are only just feelable) on track 5, side 1; and a further 5mm very light scratch (again, only just feelable) on the final track of side 2. Each of these mild blemishes do result in some very mild clicking on each of those tracks.

The labels are excellent plus (EX+). All text and the Parlophone logo remain perfectly intact including the all important "THE GRAMOPHONE COMPANY..." and "SOLD IN THE U.K..." text which are indicative of original UK 1st pressings, all of which sit upon the perfect light matt textured black background. The "K" and "T" tax codes sit proud on the side 1 label, and if it wasn't for just a couple of very, very light spindle trails adjacent to the spindle hole on each label the labels would be perfect.

The front side laminated Garrod & Lofthouse outer sleeve is in excellent (EX) condition. All edges remain very firm with no scuffing on either the top edge or spine and just 2cm of continuous scuffing on the left side of the bottom edge and 2cm of intermittent scuffing on the right side of the bottom edge. The spine is near perfect with all text remaining perfectly intact and legible. There is the occasional small, light laminate crease adjacent and perpendicular to each of the front side edges but no laminate lifting at all. Both opening edges remain firm with no fraying though the front side opening edge does have a couple of small ight "nicks" right on the edge. There is no obvious ring wear, even when the sleeve is tilted at an angle in a bright light. So, a few blemishes but the iconic nature of this sleeve has not been diminished with all colouring, photos and artwork remaining in excellent condition. Not quite excellent overall but very close and remaining highly presentable.

Finally, the quality of the audio is overall very good+. No skips, jumps, repeats, nasty clicks or intrusive background crackle with, overall, great tone and clarity even on the higher frequencies and at higher volume. There is some occasional, very light background crackle during some of the quieter moments (Nowhere Man and Michelle, for example) but I stress that this is very background; and, as already mentioned, there is some very light background clicking (I counted x8 clicks) on "Think For Yourself" and some very light clicking during the first half of "Run For Your Life"...not especially obvious in either case but nonetheless noticeable (slightly more so on "Run For Your Life"). Nevertheless, I have no hesitation in grading the overall MONO audio quality of this great LP as a solid very good plus, and each track absolutely makes for a great listen.

Excellent!  Note that I always post the record(s) in a new plain white inner sleeve(s) in order to protect the original(s).

In summary a highly collectible copy of this increasingly rare and sought after 1965 UK original MONO pressing Beatles classic, a worthy addition to any serious Beatles vinyl collection and only continuing to gain in value.

If you require any further information, including photos, then let me know and I'll do my best to oblige.

A bit about myself : I have been collecting vinyl for more than 49 years and have amassed a huge collection covering a varied genre, but mostly of 1960's and 70's origin. Most of my records were originally bought by myself for my own collection, but during the past 30 years I have embellished my collection by buying records from a variety of sources : friends/acquaintances, car boot sales, auctions, and even through putting up a "vinyl wanted" notice in my wife's shop! I am now retired and take great delight in being able to spend more time scouring the country and attending boot sales and auctions in the hope of unearthing more vinyl gems...I am 64 years of age now and am still discovering bands and music of the 60's and 70's that I have never come across before. Wonderful! Richard

My ebay feedback speaks for itself so rest assured that you are buying from a trusted seller and in the very unlikely event that you are unhappy with your purchase just e-mail me and I'll sort out the problem. I offer a "no quibble" refund policy.

On the subject of postage, I take great care in the packaging of all items, using a proper vinyl thick cardboard crucifix style mailer along with at least two cardboard stiffeners. I take great care in separating the record from the outer sleeve in order to help prevent sleeve damage in transit and I always insert the vinyl, outer sleeve and inner into a clear plastic sleeve, thus adding further protection.

For this item postage & packaging will be Royal Mail 1st class signed for  : UK £4.00;

and Royal Mail 1st class continental Europe £8, and Rest of the World £12.

I do discount post & packaging costs for multiple purchases. I do NOT profit from postage.

Good luck with your bidding! Richard

NOTE : My vinyl descriptions comply with the official Record Collector vinyl grading guidelines :

Mint

The records itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items, such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

Excellent

The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and /or creasing.

Very Good

The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

Good

The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.

Fair

The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents are torn, stained and/or defaced

Poor

The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents are badly damaged or partly missing.

Bad

The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler
