Cover: Mega rare Fourth Proof Garrod & Lofthouse pre-release cover. This cover was intended to be withdrawn as it was only meant to be used for inspection purposes - hence the 'Fourth Proof' text in the top right corner and the 'ARD 1321' (colour reference number) text along the upper flipback . However, a small number seem to have escaped on to the open market with the official release in 1967. This is the Garrod & Lofthouse laminated mono cover with inner flip-backs and the 'patents pending' text at the base of the rear cover. No writings, doodles or seam splits. Some minor edge wear, some spine wear and a little laminate creasing. Outside rates as Near Excellent and inside is Excellent+. Rates as Excellent overall - see photos. This mega rare cover is probably worth the starting price on its own.
Cut-out Insert: Mint. Dark green 1st pressing insert - see photos.
Red 'Flame'/'Fools' Inner Sleeve: Excellent. No seam splits! No writings or doodles. Couple of small marks and a little creasing - see photos.
Vinyl: Play tested. Heavy duty 1st pressing Parlophone vinyl. Looks VG+. Nice sheen - has some lightish non-feelable hairlines/marks. No skips/jumps. Has a bit of crackle and a few clicks on the run-in to Side 1. Some light background static afterwards throughout and the occasional light pop/click. Rates as VG+ overall for playback. Used but not abused condition. Would benefit from a clean to bring up to its best as it had not been played for many years before play testing.

Gradings.......
Mint - The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality.
Excellent - The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality.
Very Good - The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality despite noticeable surface marks and occasional light scratches.
Good - The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and more significant scratches.
Fair - The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise, it may even jump.
Poor - The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc
Bad - The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection filler.
