Description
Presented is a double feature rarity with The Beatles "Sgt. Peppers Lonely Heart's Club Band". This is an original issue Mono release on the Capitol color band label, MAS-2653.
Feature #1--Beginning in 1967 all U.S. record companies had ceased issuing Mono records in favor of the increasingly popular Stereo sound releases. This means that any U.S. Mono records issued from 1967 onward are much more desirable to collectors.
Feature #2--The initial issue of Sgt. Pepper's in June of 1967 had the second track on Side 1 mistakenly titled, "A Little Help From My Friends" printed on the label. Sometime later, upon discovering this egregious error Capitol Records corrected the label copy to show the complete title, "WITH A Little Help From My Friends". Because Mono was being phased out at this point corrected Mono copies are especially scarce and very collectible.
(From Beatles expert Bruce Spizer's book, "The Beatles Swan Song"---"because Mono was being phased out in 1967, Mono corrected labels are much less common than Stereo revised labels".)
This rare and collectible issue has no mention of "Nems" anywhere on the cover. This indicates a first cover issue.
The record is housed in the Psychedelic "nuance" inner sleeve, BPE-12-1. This sleeve is in Near Mint condition.
Record Plays: VG / VG+, with some occasional light pops. The record has some scuffs and scratches.
