This is the highly-prized edition of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (SPLHCB) in which A Day In The Life has been omitted from the tracklist of the Side 2 label. The zoomable pictures, above, show both labels of the actual item offered in this listing. A small number of LP's with the 'Life-less' labels were distributed to retailers before the label error was spotted and rectified. How many examples originally made it to market, and how many of those survived to this day, is unknown; but one thing is certain: the numbers are small given the short life of the label.

Additionally, the Side 1 label has an extra full-stop between the words, 'IN' and "U.K." in the 'resale conditions' text directly underneath the yellow PARLOPHONE logo. This sentence would normally be printed as, "SOLD IN U.K. SUBJECT TO...."; however on this label, the same line reads, "SOLD IN.U.K. SUBJECT TO..." (red used to emphasise the label error). While the extra full-stop SPLHCB Side 1 label appeared on numerous pressings, it did not appear on all LP's that sported the Life-less Side 2 label; in other words, the LP offered for auction in this listing can be considered one of two variations on the same theme. I am not sufficiently familiar with UK Beatles vinyl lore to categorically state which of the two variations is the scarcer but it's still safe to assume that both are uncommon enough to warrant the application of, "rarity".

The Side 1 label is possibly a hitherto undocumented variation label. While 99% consistent with PAR 7027.MR1A of "Beatles For Sale On Parlophone Records (Spizer and Daniels), the same book does not include an 'extra full-stop' variant. I acknowledge that this label's omission from the Spizer & Daniels book may have been unintentional, or that this label may have been 'discovered' in the intervening period since the book's publication in 2011.

The sleeve is also regarded as very desirable on account of the 'Patents Pending' credit printed at the bottom of the rear sleeve. Again, please look at the zoomable pictures provided of all faces of the sleeve which is offered in this listing.
The original inclusions of cutouts carded sheet and psychedelic LP bag (zoomable pictures, above) are included in this auction lot. The sleeve is VG+ at minimum. Very light feathering of sections of the LP open-seam is apparent, with minor bumping of corners and top of spine. No splits to any of the seams.

CONDITION - VINYL RECORD
The record is flat. Surface of the played vinyl is VG+ with light surface marks but no deep scratching. Visually, both sides are very clean but there are one or two fingerprints in the deadwax.

I am currently unable to play-grade the record due to an issue with how audio I/O's are configured on my new PC. I hope to have the issue sorted by mid-week and will provide an update if all goes well.

CONDITION - LABELS
The zoomable pictures, above, clearly illustrate the condition of the labels. Spindle trails are present on each label.

CONDITION - INSERT AND LP BAG

As can be seen from the supplied picture, above, the carded 'cutouts' sheet is in superb condition. The psychedelic LP bag, while intact and without seam splits, is a bit worn at the LP opening at the top.

All in all this item is a quite respectable example of an uncommon SPLHCB label, on decent quality vinyl which itself is housed in a desirable sleeve variant.
