THE BEATLES - SGT PEPPERS LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND
1967 UK MONO LP Parlophone PMC 7027

A strong very good copy of this 1969 classic - lovely shiny vinyl with excellent audio quality and, of course, the much coveted "wide spine" variant only apparent on early production copies
The condition of side 1 of the vinyl is VG+. It would be excellent were it not for a 1.5cm light scratch on the second track ("With A Little Help From My Friends") resulting in mild clicking for about half of the duration of this track. This is obviously not a deep scratch and on first appraisal is more akin to just a surface only hairline, but it is obvioulsy a little deeper than just "surface". Pity, because the remainder of side 1 is glossy without any blemishes at all apart from some very, very light paper scuffing only noticeable under a bright light and when tilted at the right angle. Side 2 is a definite "excellent" with a similarly lovely sheen and just a few very light (surface only) paper scuffs along with a few wispy hairlines - again, you'll need a bright light to identify them.
The laminated Garrod & Lofthouse gatefold outer sleeve is in excellent- condition, with original, rich and vibrant "as new" colouring fully intact. All edges, including the spine, are completely unscuffed which in itself is remarkable for a record of this age and this popular. There is a little laminate creasing towards the top left hand corner on the front side, and a little rubbing at each corner, either end of the spine. The much prized 0.7cm (0.8cm towards the bottom) wide spine is nicely intact with all writing perfectly legible and no scuffing or rubbing apart from two small nicks just adjacent to the letter "d" in "Band". The colouring on the inside of the gatefold is wonderful - virtually "as new". The flipbacks are near perfect and there are no marks at all. The only blemish is some buckling on the spine itself on the inside of the gatefold, which I know is prone to happen with these wide spine variants and emanates more from the manufacturing process than being mishandled. It's not ghastly and does little to take away any of the overall impressive appearance of the inside gatefold photo of the Beatles themselves, but it is there. Thee reverse side is also in excellent condition, the only blemishes being a very light score mark towards the centre of the reverse side (not immediately obvious in normal daylight) and a small nick on the opening edge 5cm from the bottom (see photo).
The cardboard cut-out is perfect having obviously been handled very little since the day it was manufactured.
The quality of the audio is excellent-... including the aforementioned mild clicks on " A Little Help From My Friends". Apart from that there is just a little intro crackle on side 1 and side 2. and I did detect 2 further very mild clicks about half way through the first track on side 2 ("Within You Without You"). If it wasn't for these minor faults then the quality of the audio would be a definite excellent, so sit back and immerse yourself in what is arguably the greatest album of all time!
Each label is near perfect. Look closely under a bright light and you can just detect a few very faint, small spindle traces adjacent to each of the centre holes but apart from that...perfect! The "K" and "T" tax codes sit nice and proud on the side 2 label, adjacent to the centre hole.

I take care in removing the record from the outer sleeve and properly protecting it in a separate white inner sleeve in order to prevent outer sleeve damage in transit. All items are posted Royal Mail 1st class and for items that sell for over £40 to non-UK bidders I insist upon "tracked and signed for" so please wait for an invoice before paying. I do NOT profiteer from postage costs. I DO take great care in minimising all risk thereby ensuring, as far as possible, that your purchase reaches it's destination in exactly the same condition as when I post it. Richard

Mint
Description: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.
Excellent
Description: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
Very Good
Description: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
Good
Description: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.
Fair
Description: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.
Poor
Description: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
Bad
Description: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.
