Here it is, in all its glory, the Emperor of all Rock albums, in all its ORIGINAL, primordial glory: the black "rainbow" label Capitol records pressing of "Sgt.Pepper". This vinyl version is still much preferable to the lowly compact disc. This is the album that turned Rock’n’Roll upside down and split its history in two: Rock before Sgt. Pepper - and Rock after Sgt. Pepper. According to legend, none other than John Lennon, declined to listen to anything but a mono version of this album. Plus, bear in mind that George Martin specifically mixed this masterpiece for a mono version (stereo was a mere afterthought) Grab a piece of history before Christie’s and Sotheby’s do.
For its extraordinary contribution to the modern music, superb production, craftsmanship, fine musicianship, revolutionary significance and influence it exerted on numerous generations of musicians, writers and general public, this album was voted one of top-200 albums of all time in one of the largest poll of critics, music reviewers, professionals and producers ever organized: the poll, which was conducted by Paul Gambaccini, legendary BBC Radio A&R man, surveyed more than 50 top music professionals (including Roy Carr, Jonathan Cott, Robert Christgau, Cameron Crowe, Chet Flippo, Ben Fong-Torres, Charlie Gillett, Greil Marcus, Murray the K., Lenny Kaye , Bruce Morrow (a/k/a "Cousin Brucie"), Tim Rice (of "Jesus Christ Superstar" and "Evita" fame), Lisa Robinson, Robert Shelton (who wrote liner notes for Bob Dylan's first album), Ed Ward, Joel Whitburn, Pete Wingfield, etc.). For more details, see: "Critics Choice: Top-200 albums" compiled by Paul Gambaccini, Omnibus Press, Library of Congress Catalog No.7855565 (or click here for the complete album listing)
Some Reasons Why You Should Buy The Original American Mono Beatles Albums:
I. These are genuine historical artifacts. Rock & Roll did not produce many works deserving to be called history; albums by Beatles are a noble exception to this rule.
II. These pressings are coveted by EVERYONE and, despite the fact that Beatles sold almost a billion records, precious few original mono albums in good shape remain on the market.
III. Mono pressings are, almost by definition, the very first pressings. They were in print for only short period of time, ranging from only few weeks (Magical Mystery Tour) to three years (Meet the Beatles).
IV. First, mono pressings sound MUCH better and are much more vivid than the stereo versions.
V. Mono versions contain different versions or mixes of many tracks; in some cases mono versions contain the only "proper" versions of the songs, which are only available only in FAKE stereo on stereo albums.
VI. Beatles mono albums are analog pressings; whereas everything else you can currently find on the market is a …~NMLD digital mastering.
VII. American versions of SOME Beatles Capitol albums have never been - and, apparently, might never again be - available on Compact Disc, courtesy of EMI/Capitol records (why, sure - if you have to pay Mariah Carey $50 million NOT to record anything, not even the lucrative Beatles catalog can save you)
VIII. The original Beatles mono albums are a terrific investment value, not likely to go the Enron way.
THIS IS A NO-RESERVE AUCTION!

· CONDITION:
· RECORD
(IMPORTANT NOTE: unless otherwise noted, ALL records are graded visually, and NOT play-graded!; we grade records under the strong, diffuse room light or discrete sunlight)
(a) WE GRADE THE VINYL AS BORDERLINE NEAR MINT. This album probably does not qualify to be graded NEAR MINT by using stringent, rigorous grading – but, in our opinion, it is very close to NEAR MINT. At our own risk, we will grade it as NEAR MINT, but be forewarned: if you are rigorous and demanding collector, this album may be VG++ for your standards, or below your expectations. Some light abrasions and sleeve scuffs are visible, but are probably not sufficient to significantly lower the overall grade. Please inquire if you need more information.
(b) The album comes with the original insert still intact.
(c) Mono pressing of this title is much rarer, and by far more preferable to its stereo counterpart. We think that the mix is more natural, humane, "organic" and that the mixes are somewhat different than on the stereo version. We estimate that stereo copies of this album outnumber mono pressings by a ratio of at least 20:1.
(d) Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

- The cover has a few tiny scratch marks on the front side (nothing significant)
