BEATLES “SIE LIEBT DICH” MEGA RARE ORANGE PRINT SWAN 45, VIRTUE STUDIO + BONUS!
Only once in a blue—or orange—moon do these ORANGE PRINT "Sie Liebt Dich" discs come up.
SOME BACKGROUND:
The Beatles recorded German lyric versions to “She Loves You” and “I Want to Hold Your Hand” in Paris on Jan. 29, 1964. The Swan label only had rights to “She Loves You,” and thus released a single with this version backed with their original master of “I’ll Get You” in May.
All copies have white labels with “Don’t Drop Out,” and “Virtue Studio” in the trail-off area. There are several label variations with red ink, but only ONE in orange, pressed by the Monarch plant in Los Angeles.
The recording peaked at #97 on the American charts.
The copy you’re bidding on has a cut-out hole, which possibly means that it was sent to a radio station first. I was a disc jockey in the 60s and 70s, and am very familiar with this process. However, it can also mean that the disc was never sold at a retailer, and sent back to Swan for resale.
The disc plays fine, with no skips or pops, just some age-appropriate wear that can be filtered. The A-Side is nice and clean, with only minor ringwear. There is a name on the B-Side, also a very small number sticker.
Overall, a nice copy for the Beatles collector!
