U.K. EXPORT PRESSING
Generally accepted as one of the "Holy Grails" for Beatles collectors worldwide.
This is the very first Beatles LP
that was treated to Parlophone's export policy
and was also the final LP that was designed specifically for
the US market.
The history of Beatle LP releases in the U.S. is well known
with either different track listings or particular tracks omitted from the U.S versions. .
Later Beatle LP's were released under the Capitol record label in the U.S.and
this example has been given a "C" for Capitol added prefix to the usual
U.K PCS catalogue number reserved for U.K. stereo releases.
This is a 1964 "EXPORT ONLY" issue
with the catalogue number CPCS 101
Not only being a rarity in itself this is the rarest of all these releases:-
let me explain
This LP was released in several formats over the years.
Beginning in 1964, Parlophone began to press and distribute to other countries
copies of LP's that were not available in that form in UK.
The original album was released in U.S.A. in July 1964. EMI produced
the albums in response to a demand from foreign countries and put the new
record number prefix "CPCS", adding "C" for Capitol to the domestic stereo number prefix "PCS".
There are 4 pressings for the this album:-
1st. Press (1964): Yellow/black Parlophone label and with
"THE PARLOPHONE CO. LTD." rim and text "SOLD IN U.K.
SUBJECT TO RESALE PRICE CONDITION. SEE PRICE LISTS "
and "KT" tax code embossed on the centre.
2nd. Press (1965): Yellow/black Parlophone label and with "THE PARLOPHONE CO. LTD." rim
WITHOUT "SOLD IN THE UK..." text
3rd. Press(1966): Yellow/black Parlophone label and with
"THE GRAMOPHONE CO. LTD." rim.
4th. Press(1969): Silver/black Parlophone label with One EMI mark logo.
This example is the FIRST PRESS with The Parlophone Co. on the label rim
"SOLD IN THE UK TEXT...."
and "KT" tax code embossed on the centre
This was quickly withdrawn as there were problems issuing from the
"KT" tax code which only related to items sold in the UK and did not apply
to export copies. At the same time the "SOLD IN THE UK" text was
removed for obvious reasons.
Not only that, this is the ONLY yellow/black Parlophone
issue that features "I want to hold your hand"
("KOMM, GIB MIR DEINE HAND") in German
Condition:
Please hear the tracks from the record itself.
These are the actual tracks as transcribed WITHOUT any alteration,
filtering or ANY changes AT ALL.
They were done in real time and
if you listen carefully you will hear any crackle betweeen tracks.
This was not transcribed using a state of the art machine but rather an
inexpensive vinyl to MP3 machine. Inevitably because I uploaded to XP2000 there
has been some loss of quality... but overall this is a true representation
of the overall sound.The disc has a slight dish but as you can hear
this DOES NOT affect the sound reproduction.
Cover: VG, some finger creases at the edges. the back has some
marks lower left corner (see photo).
The spine/edges have some wear

EXCELLENT audio inspection has revealed no sounding scratches on the playing surface, but there may be a few light crackles and/or tics. The jacket might have slight wear and/or creasing or fading.
VERY GOOD audio inspection has revealed some light tics and The jacket might have creasing or other defects which will be pointed out in the listing.
