So what is so rare about a MONO Sgt. Pepper (?), One of the top-selling albums of the second half of the 60s. Well, yes it was.  But only a small amount of the earliest pressings were sold with this very distinctive wide spine sleeve....

These were very quickly changed to the much more familiar, narrow spine sleeves, and this is what we see most of the time, but this sleeve, with a much wider, crisper, more pristine spine, is truly thin on the ground.

This is one of the earliest Sgt. Peppers to sell, and is housed in a wonderful example of this very rare sleeve variant!

Matrix numbers: XEX 637-1 & XEX 638-1.

With '2' 'G R' stampers, on side 1. And '3' ‘0’ on side 2.

Condition report.

I am not a record dealer, therefore not certain how record dealers grade records, however I will do my best and tell you all what I see.

Vinyl.  Fine surface scratches on vinyl, also a slightly deeper scratch (but not deep) about 3 inches long on side 2.

When the record is laid on a table the record lays down nice and flat, not curved, bowed or warped. No pen, pencil or ink marks.

Light spindle trails on both sides of labels.

Both labels carry the 'Sold in UK..' texts and 'Gramophone. Co...' rim text.

With the ‘K,T’, letters on side 2 of the label.

Gatefold.  Fully laminated cover is Very Good condition!! No pen, pencil or ink marks.. No tears or splits.. No stains.. Garrod & Lofthouse.

Sleeve. Psychedelic original white and red ‘Patents Applied for’ – inner sleeve, is EXCELLENT conditio. No pen, pencil or ink marks.. No tears or splits.. No stains..

Cardboard cut-out, please note, the moustache is missing, otherwise Excellent.. No pen, pencil or ink marks.. No tears or splits.. No stains..

Sorry, but I do not have a record player, therefore I do not know how it will sound when played..
