I am in the process of downsizing my collection of vintage electronics & parts, recording gear and vinyl records.
I'm offering a superb copy of The Beatles Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band. UK Parlophone first stereo pressing. Matrix 637-1 and 638-1 (there are no known earlier matrices). Aside from any pre-production test pressings, this was the absolutely the first production release in the UK.
Includes both cardboard cutout sheet and psychedelic album sleeve.
LP is graded as EX with a nice healthy gloss. Some light non-sounding scuffs. A few occasional low-level ticks - in general, very quiet surfaces (even by critical classical music standards). Listening to She's Leaving Home or the decaying piano chord at the end of A Day in the Life, and you'll hear how quiet this record is. Incredible sound as a result of British EMI/Parlophone's use of vacuum tube mastering, commensurate with that time period in record production.
Album jacket is graded EX with a wonderful gloss finish typical of European albums. Please check out the photos taken on top of a black grand piano adjacent to an arch window to see the reflectivity of the jacket's surface. There is some minor surface wear, and a faint circular impression of the LP near the top of the jacket and on the back. These are more or less apparent depending on the lighting angle.
In the interest of full disclosure, it appears that the internal paper album sleeve does not have the usual EMI/Parlophone tapering. Instead (and similar to the US releases) it has non-tapered straight sides. In any case, the actual record is enclosed in an audiophile-quality poly sleeve to give it an extra measure of protection.
As a personal collector (and not a dealer), I strive to give the most accurate representation of the records I sell, based on both playback and visual evaluation. My grading is extremely conservative.

I am not the original purchaser of this album and I wonder how that first buyer came to own this copy. I often imagine that it's 1967 and someone is waiting in line outside a London record shop in expectant anticipation of getting their hands on the Beatles latest LP release!
