Sgt Pepper LP
1st UK issue, original Mono, Wide Spine sleeve.
PMC 7027 – black and yellow Parlophone labels.
A very first UK press Mono flipback sleeve with a ‘8mm wide spine’ the very first to be printed when the LP was first released back in June 1967. Due to packing storage problems the wide spine sleeves were discontinued in favour of the more familiar, ‘thinner’ spine flipback Pepper sleeves,
CONDITION:THE MAIN SLEEVE: is in an EX-- condition, the sleeve is fully laminated. The spine is in EX- condition and all the text on the spine is clear to read. The spines width measures 8mm at its widest point. The original exposed two top flipbacks can be seen when the sleeve is opened. There are NO splits, stains, pen writing, on the sleeve. There is an unpeeled sticker on the rear but as the cover is laminated this should be easy to remove
THE INSERT: the green cardboard ‘cut-out’ is present but does have the moustache removed
THE INNER SLEEVE: is clean but has a split along the bottom edge
THE VINYL: is in a Strong Very Good condition. The vinyl is made of the period ‘thick, heavy’ vinyl. Has light scuffs when viewed under a bright light but nothing bad, deep or anything that stands out. It really is just normal surface scuffs in places
The Matrix are: XEX 637 - 1 and XEX 638 - 1,
The Mother / Stampers are: ‘1 M’ and ‘2 DG’.
The yellow print on the side 2 label is off set by a large amount, uncertain if this is with all the early first press examples
