Description
This is a rare UK first pressing with the track "A Day In The Life" missing from the track listing on the side 2 label although it is there pressed on the vinyl! Released on Parlophone, catlogue number PMC 7027. It comes in an early laminated Garrod & Lofthouse sleeve which appears to be lighter in hue than usual - not through fading - it has been printed this way. On the rear of the gatefold sleeve at the bottom, it states "Patents pending" indicating this is an early sleeve as subsequent sleeves had a patent number printed. The record comes in a plain white sleeve with "Patent Applied For" printed in small lettering. Apparently, this rare misprinted label version of Sgt Pepper was only supplied with this inner sleeve and not the usual red and white inner sleeve supplied with all other first pressings. This album is complete with the card cut-out insert. The matrix numbers etched into the vinyl for sides 1 and 2 respectively are: XEX 637-1 and XEX 638-1.
CONDITION: Sleeve is very good with minor wear and creasing. Vinyl is also very good and has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. There is a little light crackle in a few places. I generally follow Record Collector's grading system but please see my "ME" page for a fuller description of my gradings.
