The BEATLES - SGT. PEPPERS LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND
Lovely 1967 UK 1st press WIDE SPINE copy with all original components and super MONO audio quality throughout
The condition of the vinyl is very good plus (VG+) : the vinyl has retained a beautiful jet black lustre and remains flat, weighty, and underplayed. Close inspection under a bright light reveals some small and very faint scuff marks on each side along with just the occasional extremely fine hairline, all of which are non-feelable, surface only, and appear to be purely superficial. The single exception to this is a tiny mark on side 1 (see photo), and although non-feelable does result in four very, very light dull clicks midway through "Fixing A Hole". Excellent condition labels with the only blemishes being a few small and extremely light spindle trails on each and a small light mark on the side 1 label where presumably a label has been removed (see photo). The "K" and "T" tax codes are nicely embossed upon the side 1 label. Very good plus (VG+) condition original 1st press laminated gatefold sleeve with firm unscuffed edges, including a rigid spine with all spine text remaining perfectly intact and measuring a whopping 8mm in width! Each corner remains an almost perfectly defined right angle with barely any rubbing at all. There is no cardboard creasing, no ring wear, and no edge fraying on the opening sides. The inside of the gatefold is excellent also, with the only blemishes being a small area of laminate lifting at 3 of the 4 front corners, a very mild wiggly brown line at the front side top left corner (which could be a very light stain - see photo), and four very light and non-obvious laminate creases on the reverse side. So not quite perfect but undoubtedly VG+ (bordering on excellent) and remaining eminently presentable. The original "cut-outs" insert is unused and remains in very nice condition with just a few light handling/storage marks on the front side, and the original "Fools" red flamed inner sleeve is also present with just a single 2cm edge split in the middle of the bottom edge and some mild diagonal creasing at two corners. Very impressive and overall excellent minus (EX-) MONO audio quality with no skips, jumps, repeats, sticks, or distortion and any background crackle is at an absolute minimum - just the very occasional hint of some very, very background crackle but nothing really. You might also come across the odd very mild click no doubt caused by the odd speck of dust caught in the grooves through decades of upright storage, and there is the aforementioned four very, very light dull clicks midway through "Fixing A Hole" (if it were not for these 4 very light clicks I would have no hesitation in grading the audio quality as "excellent"). But nothing to really impinge upon the overall excellent audio quality with every track remaining a great listen - timeless! A few very minor blemishes but overall a very nice copy of this rare 1967 UK 1st press MONO "wide spine" Beatles classic.
