BEATLES Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band. 1967. Parlophone PMC 7027. MONO.
EARLY (FIRST?) UK Pressing
Yellow CAPITAL lettering on original black Parlophone labels
"SOLD IN UK..." and "THE GRAMOPHONE CO. LTD..." on labels.
XEX 637-1 RAO (side one) and XEX 638-1 GLO (side two) on run off grooves
Garrod & Lofthouse laminated sleeve.
Visible flaps inside gatefold sleeve.
Cut-out insert.
The brilliant Mono version.
Condition
Record VG+
Visually, it looks fine, even though it is obviously well-played. Under a very bright light, there are a few minor hairlines on Side One. Side Two also has hairlines and is lightly scuffed.
When played, the music sounds wonderful - strong and clear throughout. Some surface noise is audible on Side One in the quiet parts eg She's Leaving Home, otherwise Side One is EXCELLENT. There is more surface noise on Side Two - presumably because of the scuffing, but it's still a really enjoyable listen. Overall VG+ rating.
Cover/Sleeve EX-
Gatefold laminated sleeve in great condition with minor creases.
Spine is creased horizontally and worn at each end.
Inside, the gatefold is pristine. Amazing for a record of this age.
The cut-out is in excellent condition.
No red inner sleeve (it's easy to pick one up on eBay from an inexpensive trashed copy of this record).
Labels - Fine with multiple spindle marks.
I use Record Collector magazine gradings.
