BEATLES Something New LONGINES RECORD CLUB LP NM VINYL SCARCE!
Cover---Pretty darned nice cover. Far better than most Record Club covers, as they tended to be constructed of cheap, over-recycled cardboard that was susceptible to splitting if you breathed at them. All of the seams are muscular intact. There is a very slight sign of fraying to the bottom left seam from shelfwear. Bottom right seam has a split less than a half inch long. Front slick has light wear, back slick is a little yellowed, but is beautiful clean.
Top front left has the Record Club’s three horizontal black bars. Top right back cover and spine have the Record Club catalogue number with the 8 inserted, “ST-8-2108.” RIAA number is the correct 16 for Record Club covers. Bottom back cover disclaimer doesn’t mention the various pressing plants as regular issues did, but gives the Hollywood and Vine Streets location. Also specific to Record Club issues.
Vinyl---Side 1 has stunning near mint vinyl. Looks as brand new as the day it was issued. Side 2 has one light mark in the first track which doesn’t affect play. There is one light mark in the trail-off dead wax. After that, the vinyl is as gorgeous as the side 1 grooves are. A VERY scarcely seen copy to begin with, this is the best conditioned copy I’ve ever seen. And I’ve only seen two of these in my life. I’ll keep the lesser-conditioned one and you can have this one.
Labels---Perfectly clean, no spindle marks. Not even almost. The Longines paragraph is located beneath the word, “STEREO” to the left of the playhole. See photo. The entire font and layout are completely different than regular ol’ Record Club issues. Both sides feature the Record Club catalogue numbers, as well as the Hollywood and Vine Streets disclaimer at the bottom of the labels, where we are used to seeing the small black Capitol logo at the 5 o’clock position.

(Please note that due to time constraints, I have had to stop play-testing my vinyl. However, I am happy to by request. As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.
