Here we have a very rare First STEREO Pressing of the Beatles White Album, with the Earliest Matrix variation

It comes complete with the original Lipstick poster, only available on first pressings, and the Four original photos of the individual members. All original and the earliest Stereo press, making this a true collectors item

VINYL CONDITION - EXCELLENT minus. A great pair of original vinyls, with some hairlines and very light scratches, the records have retained their original glossy sheen. There are no deep marks or scratches, but side two does have a light hairline running across it. No sticks or jumps and a minimal of background noise or sound between the tracks

This great record plays up to the visual grading and beyond. this is a well played and well loved copy, which plays through with the unmistakable strong early heavy press Stereo sound

LABELS - Famous Apple labels are in EXCELLENT PLUS Condition, no marks or writing, limited spindle wear. The first Apple LP's featured the "Sold in UK" message across the label which was found on all Beatles records of the period.

COVER - Top Opening EXCELLENT minus Condition

The condition of the cover is on the whole Excellent, and still maintains its creamish white sheen although not the pristine white of 1968 when it was released. The spine is solid although with some wear. The spine text is fully legible in the bottom portion but not in the top. slight marks, with the usual light corner wear. The sleeve is fully laminated. The inside is totally clean and there is NO feathering on the openings. The flip backs are completely intact and in near perfect condition. This is an original cover with no text on the rear of the gatefold. Cover is the original TOP LOADER by GARROD & LOFTHOUSE International; it is the heavier thick card only found on the first pressings. The title THE BEATLES is EMBOSSED under the laminate, as it should be, on the bottom right quadrant of the front cover above the LIMITED EDITION NUMBER, in this case No. 0151026.

INNERS - Comes with all 4 Photos which are in NR MINT Condition.

All FOUR PHOTOGRAPHS (each 20 x 29 cms or about 8 x 11.5 inches) on the original THICK PHOTO CARD.

Also comes with the Original full size 'Lipstick' poster, also in NR MINT Condition, with no splits along the seems, pin hole or blue tack marks as these delicate inserts usually have

INNER SLEEVES - Comes with two plain white inner sleeves, to protect the records, along with the original Black Inner Sleeves. The original Black Inners are in EXCELLENT condition, with only a very small tear (5mm) around the die cut opening of each. NO SEAM SPLITS, which is very rare for these delicate sleeves

Album notes

The Beatles had over a quarter of a million advance orders, and of course went straight to number 1. This was the first double album EVER to get to the top slot where it stayed for 7 weeks in a row. It sold so many, that once again The Beatles also made the singles chart, consequently the ONLY double album to ever enter that chart. By the end of the year, just over a month later, the white album had sold over 4,000,000 copies worldwide, and by the end of 1970 global sales were around 6.5 million. At that time this was the biggest selling double album of all time.

The sleeve design was by Richard Hamilton, who suggested the minimalist approach and the consecutively numbered sleeves which would give a limited edition feel to it. Richard also came up with the montage idea for the large free poster, which included the lyrics on it's rear. The four free colour prints were taken by John Kelly.

MY RECORD GRADING SYSTEM IS AS FOLLOWS - (BASED ON RECORD COLLECTOR MAGAZINE U.K. )

MINT: Virtually unplayed. The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. Cover is pristine.

EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

V.G PLUS: The record will still be nice and shiny, but may have a few light marks, and will play well. Slight wear and tear on the cover.

V.G: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items.

GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, etc.
