Description
The beatles: Tragical HIstory Tour
(Note: although the cover lists the label as dist. by Apple Records - New Zealand, it is neither. The label shows the Rubber Soul logo, the catalog number is SAPCOR 36. And that’s about it. It’s a double LP with a gatefold sleeve)
Condition: cover and vinyl – VG+
The Tracks:
1. Magical Mystery Tour – straight off the soundtrack… and sounds it.
2. Fool on the hill - one of Paul’s demos
3. Shirley’s wild accordion – Incidental music from MMT
4. Blue Jay Way – Mono mix
5. Your mother should know – An early alt., with undubbed instrumental backing and the vocal harmonies singing “Oooo-OO!” instead of the later “your muh-tha” harmony.
6. I am the Walrus – Early, undubbed version.
7. Strawberry Fields #2 – Acetate of early, undubbed version
8. Jessie’s dream – (“and she starts dreaming about… food!”)
9. John talks about Magical Mystery Tour
10. Beatles with Kenny Everett (original broadcast)
11. Beatles with Kenny Everett (Apple promo 45 – edited)
12. Intro / With a little help from my friends – This one must be from a TV show, complete with “Ringo STARR!” intro, strings, Ringo doing the lead and certainly not the Beatles doing the backing, and drenched in a lovely echo.
13. The label says When I’m 64, but it sounds to me like Paul singing “oo woah woah” and playing through the piano parts of “Oh my my.”
14. Sgt. Pepper (reprise) – the mono version, with Paul’s shouting mixed on top and not way beneath, as on the stereo version.
15. A day in the life – A splice of at least two different outtakes, starting with the count-in version and slicing over to the “oh shit” version. With the piano crash spliced on the end rather badly.
16. Sgt. Pepper Run-out groove – the stereo one
17. Christmas time is here again – the 7:00 version.

19. Strawberry Fields intro by George Martin
20. Strawberry Fields Forever – take 1, in the studio
21. Strawberry Fields Forever – starts with a breakdown (“…loud!...” sez Lennon); no overdubs
22. Strawberry Fields Forever – George Martin orchestral backing; starts with count-in
23. Strawberry Fields Forever – same as above, but with Beatles overdubbed and Lennon’s vocal.
24. Strawberry Fields Forever – Full version of slower take, with slightly off-kilter vocal doubling by Lennon.
25. Sound collage, mixing Revolution #9 with tracks from George’s Wonderwall score.
