Description
BEATLES UK, Abbey Road LP, UK 1969 first issue, mis-aligned Apple logo sleeve.
PCS 7088, original UK 1969 first issue ‘dark green’ Apple record label.
A UK first issue album from 1969 in original condition, featuring:
1. a ‘mis-pressed’, ‘mis-aligned’, Apple logo on the rear of the sleeve. First issue, UK copies of this album, from September 1969, were ‘mis-pressed’, with a ‘mis-aligned’, Apple logo, printed too far over to the left !. EMI were quick to correct this and very soon the sleeves were changed and the Apple logo was correctly aligned with the song listings,
2. unusually the text on the spine can be read looking at the ‘front’ of the sleeve, as the text seems to, ‘lap’ over !, see photo,
3. first issue, UK 1969 record matrix of: YEX 749 - 2 and YEX 750 - 1,
4. first issue, UK 1969, ‘dark green’ Apple colour record label on side one,
5. on side two of the record label, the track ‘Her Majesty’ is printed, but reference to this track is NOT printed on the rear of the sleeve !,
6. comes with its original period plain white EMI inner sleeve made of the period, quality, thick grade paper. Unusually it features two ‘Patent’ numbers, one is the ‘usual’, ‘Patent nos 1,125,555’, the other, printed below, is ‘1072844’.
CONDITION:
THE MAIN SLEEVE: is in excellent++ condition, the sleeve is laminated front and rear. The laminate has an excellent++ glossy, quality finish to it, a near perfect condition laminate. This is one of the best condition sleeves I have seen for a long time. The original period ‘thin’ spine is in excellent++ condition and has remained white, clean and straight and all the text on the spine is crystal clear to read. The four corners of the sleeve are in excellent++ condition and have remained clean and sharp. The two opening edges of the sleeve and are also in excellent++ condition and have remained clean and sharp. A UK first issue sleeve from September 1969 that features a mis aligned ‘Apple’ logo on the rear of the sleeve. There are NO stains, pen writing, splits, tears, stickers or sticker residue on the sleeve.
THE INNER SLEEVE: is in near excellent condition and is the original period plain white EMI inner sleeve made of the period, quality thick grade paper. Unusually it features two ‘Patent numbers’ printed on it, one is the ’usual’, ‘Patent nos 1,125,555’, the other, printed below is, ‘1072844’. The sleeve is made from the original heavy grade quality paper with a 'textured' surface to the inside. The two opening edges of the inner sleeve have remained clean for their age. Theres NO tears, stickers or sticker residue on the inner sleeve. There is a slight split to one of the side edges and a very small piece of blue pen to the front, right edge.
THE RECORD: side one is in excellent condition. Side two is in excellent+ condition. The record is made from the quality period, 1960s thick heavy vinyl. It has remained very dark and glossy.
The matrix are: YEX 749 - 2 and YEX 750 - 1,
The mother / stampers are: ‘4 OPH’ and ‘2 MPD’,
THE AUDIO: side one plays near MINT, although I did hear some light ‘ticks’ in the middle of, ‘She so heavy’, this track played, overall excellent++, the rest of side two plays near MINT, with excellent silent grooves. Side two plays near MINT, with excellent silent grooves. One of the best playing copies I have heard for a long time. Each side plays with a clear, full powerful period, stereo sound. The record lays flat on the turntable.
THE LABELS: each label is in near MINT condition. As this is a UK 1969 first issue, side one shows a dark green ‘Apple’ colour. The labels are free from any pen writing, stickers or sticker residue.
TO GRADE THE CONDITION OF THE RECORD I AM USING THE OFFICIAL GRADING SYSTEM FROM THE ‘RECORD COLLECTOR’ MAGAZINE.
