BEATLES UK – Abbey Road LP, UK wider spine sleeve, circa 1971.

A hard to find variant of this album, circa 1971, featuring:

1. the sleeve features a ‘wider spine’, it measures 2.5mm, earlier sleeves came with a very thin spine,

2. each record label has a matt finish and features a lighter colour green Apple on side one, also the font on each label is the slimmer ‘San Serif’ font. Earlier labels had a ‘satin’ finish, a darker green Apple colour label to side one and a wider ‘chubbier’ font to the labels,

3. the record comes with its original ‘Apple copyright’ inner, circa 1971,

4. although the labels are circa 1971, the record still has the original first press 2 / 1 matrix.

THE MAIN SLEEVE: is in excellent++ condition, the sleeve is laminated front and rear. The four corners of the sleeve have remained crisp and sharp and the two opening edges of the sleeve have also remained crisp and sharp. This sleeve has a more unusual ‘wider spine’, it measures 2.5mm, the unflattened spine is in excellent condition and all the text on the spine is clear to read.

There are NO stains, pen writing, splits, tears, stickers or sticker residue on the sleeve.

THE INNER SLEEVE: is in excellent+ condition and is the original period, circa 1971 ‘important notice copyright exists in all Apple recordings’. Theres NO pen writing, splits, tears, stickers or sticker residue on the sleeve.

THE VINYL: is in MINT condition, in fact the record looks unplayed !, I have graded the condition of the playing surfaces viewing it under normal daylight conditions. I cannot see any marks at all to either sides of the record. The vinyl is made from the period thick, heavy vinyl. It is very dark and glossy and looks like new.

The matrix are:  YEX 749 - 2  and  YEX  750 - 1,

The mother/stampers are:  ‘ 6  P L G ’  and  ‘ 2  P T T ’,

THE AUDIO: side one plays near MINT, side two plays with some crackle to the first thirty seconds of play to track one, but it soon clears to play near MINT. The record lays flat on the turntable.

THE LABELS: side one is in excellent condition, looking like a possible one or two plays only, side two is in near MINT condition, again looking like a possible one or two plays only. The labels are free from any pen writing, stickers or sticker residue.

THE RECORD / SLEEVES ARE THEN PUT INTO A NEW PLASTIC SLEEVE FOR FURTHER PROTECTION.
