Abbey Road, UK 1969 issue LP.

PCS 7088, original first issue UK 1969 ‘dark green’ apple record label.

A UK 1969 issue album in original condition, featuring:

1. first issue UK 1969 record matrix of: YEX 749 - 2 and YEX 750 - 1,

2. first issue UK 1969 ‘dark green’ apple colour record label on side one,

3. the track ‘Her Majesty’ is not printed on the record label, but this track plays on the album !,

4. comes with its original period 1969, first issue ‘apple’ black inner sleeve.

CONDITION:

THE MAIN SLEEVE: is in excellent++ condition, the sleeve is laminated front and rear. The original period, ‘thin’ spine is in excellent+ condition and has remained white, clean and straight and all the text on the spine is clear to read. The two opening edges of the sleeve are in excellent++ condition and have remained clean and sharp. There are NO stains, pen writing, splits, tears, stickers or sticker residue on the sleeve.

THE INNER SLEEVE: is in good++ condition and is the original period black ‘apple’, 1969 inner sleeve. There are NO stickers or sticker residue on the inner sleeve. There is a 10mm tear to the rear, opening edge and one of the side edges has completely split and the other side edge has a split.

THE RECORD: each side is in excellent+ condition. The record is made from the quality period, 1960s thick heavy vinyl. The record has remained very dark and glossy.

The matrix are: YEX 749 - 2 and YEX 750 - 1,

The mother / stampers are: ‘6 OGR’, and ‘7 MOO’,

THE AUDIO: side one, half way through the track, ‘I want you’, (Shes so Heavy) it ‘sticks’, visually there is no reason why this should happen, but I have had a few other copies in the past that have also had a ‘stick’ in this very same place !, so it appears to be a factory fault during the ‘pressing’ process !. Overall the audio on side one plays excellent++, but as it has this ‘stick’, I will grade the audio overall on side one, as good++. Side two plays excellent+, it plays with some light ‘ticks’ heard here and there. Each side plays with a full powerful period, stereo sound. The record lays flat on the turntable.

THE LABELS: side one is in excellent+ condition. Side two is in excellent++ condition. As this is a first issue UK copy from 1969, side one shows a dark green ‘apple’ colour and on side two, the track, ‘Her Majesty’ is not printed on the record label. The labels are free from any pen writing, stickers or sticker residue.

1. these original first issue 1970 UK 2U / 2U matrix records came with the original UK box sets. After the UK box sets were discontinued, EMI, ever keen not to have any waste, sold the surplus first issue UK 2U/2U matrix records until stocks ran out. The UK sleeves were soon changed to feature a ‘green’ apple logo on the rear of the sleeve and the records matrix was changed to ‘3U’ etc,

2. first UK 1970 record matrix of, 2U / 2U,

The sleeve is made from the original period, thick ‘heavy grade’ quality paper and the inside of the inner sleeve has a ‘textured’ surface.
