BEATLES UK, Abbey Road, unusual Cloud UK sleeve LP.

PCS 7088, Apple record labels.

An unusual UK sleeve variant, dated circa early / mid 1970s, featuring:

1. the front sleeve photo features ‘clouds’ in the sky !. Where ‘regular’ sleeves of this album show a clear blue sky, could this be the original, ‘unedited’ photo from the original 35mm film negative taken back in August 1969 ?, was the original photo ‘edited’ to show a deep blue sky above the famous pedestrian crossing ?. Only a very small number of these ’cloud’ sleeves were ever printed,

2. the record features an unusual matrix combination of, ‘4’ and ‘2 U’,

3. each side of the record features the earliest, ‘mothers’ of, ‘1/1’ ,

4. the track, ‘Her Majesty’ is printed on the record label and plays on the record but this track does not appear printed on the rear of the sleeve !,

5. comes with its original, ‘EMI Important notice’, EMI copyright and ‘Care of your record’, sleeve notes, inner sleeve.

CONDITION:

THE MAIN SLEEVE: is in excellent++ condition, the sleeve is fully laminated, front and back. The excellent, near perfect, unspoilt glossy laminate has NO ‘thumb creases’. The two opening edges of the sleeve have remained clean and sharp. The four corners of the sleeve have remained clean and sharp. The spine is in excellent+ condition and has remained clean, white and straight and all of the text on the spine is clear to read. Theres NO pen writing, splits, tears, stickers or sticker residue on the sleeve.

THE INNER SLEEVE: is in very good+ condition and is the original period white, ‘EMI Important notice’, EMI copyright and ‘Care of your record’, sleeve notes, inner sleeve. Theres NO pen writing, tears, stickers or sticker residue on the inner sleeve. There is a slight split to one of the side edges and a slight split to the bottom edge.

THE RECORD: side one is in excellent++ condition, side two is in near excellent condition. The record has remained very dark and glossy.

The records matrix is: YEX 749 - 4 and YEX 750 – 2U,

The mother / stampers are: ‘1 P’ and ‘1 PO, earliest ‘mothers’.

THE AUDIO: each side of the record plays very good+, each side plays with some ‘crackle’. The record lays flat on the turntable and plays with a full powerful period stereo sound.

THE RECORD LABELS: each of the record labels are in very good++ condition. Each of the record labels are free from any pen writing, stickers or sticker residue.

TO GRADE THE CONDITION OF THE RECORD I AM USING THE OFFICIAL GRADING SYSTEM FROM THE ‘RECORD COLLECTOR’ MAGAZINE.

BEFORE POSTING, THE RECORD IS REMOVED FROM THE RECORDS ORIGINAL INNER AND OUTER SLEEVE, THE RECORD IS THEN PUT INTO A SECOND PAPER INNER SLEEVE TO MINIMISE ANY DAMAGE THAT MAY OCCUR WHILE IN TRANSIT. THE RECORD / SLEEVES ARE THEN PUT INTO A NEW PLASTIC SLEEVE FOR FURTHER PROTECTION.
