Description

BEATLES UK – REVOLVER LP, unusual variant Mono.

1966 PMC 7009 – Original Black and Yellow Parlophone Labels.

A hard to find  UK Mono album in 100% original condition from 1969   featuring:

1. the last  Parlophone yellow and black Mono labels to be issued from mid 1969 as the text  ‘Sold in UK’ etc was removed from these labels, these labels were only available  for only a short time  until the ‘One EMI box’  black and silver record labels were introduced.

2. the record label on side  two has the spelling of ‘ Doctor ’  Robert, but on the sleeve this song is printed as  ‘ Dr ’ Robert  !.

3. the mother/stampers on side one are unusual, they are  ‘ 5  12  12 ’  (mothers)   and the stampers read as  ‘ R P P ’   but the middle ‘P’ has been crossed out and replaced with  the  letter  ‘ T ’.

4.  there are no letters embossed around the spindle holes on the labels.

5.  the spine of the sleeve is  very unusual as it  has a ‘pinched’  spine  top and bottom, this is the first flipback Mono sleeve  I have seen.

CONDITION:

THE MAIN SLEEVE: is in excellent+  condition, the front of the sleeve is  laminated.  The sleeve has remained an excellent fresh white in colour.   The sleeve  has  retained  its four excellent sharp corners.   The  rear features the original tri-flipback design.  The spine is in excellent condition and all the text is readable. The unlaminated rear of the sleeve has NO scuffing to the black  coloured area.   There  are  NO splits, tears, pen writing,  stains, stickers  or  sticker residue on the sleeve.

THE INNER SLEEVE:  is in very good+  condition  and is the original  EMI  period advertising   sleeve.  It is very clean and has remained a good fresh white in colour.    There  are NO tears, stains, pen writing,  stickers or  sticker residue.   One of the side edges has begun to split.

THE VINYL:   is very clean, dark and glossy and clearly has not been played much,  there are some isolated marks,  so I will grade the vinyl as in very good condition.     It is made from the period thick, heavy vinyl.

The matrix are:   XEX  605 - 2  and   XEX 606 – 2,

The Mother/Stampers are:   ‘  5 12 12     R T P ’    a letter  ‘P’   has been crossed out  and the letter  ‘T’ replaces it,       and    ‘  6   R R L  ’,

THE AUDIO:  is very good,   in general it plays with nice quit ‘ run ins’ with   some isolated    light  ‘ticks’  can be heard in places.  The record plays well without the needle sticking or jumping.

THE LABELS:  are in excellent++ condition  and show very little play.    As mentioned the later Mono  labels  do  not have the text ‘Sold in UK ’  etc on them.    There  is the  spelling of  ‘ Doctor ’ Robert on the label.  There are NO  letters   embossed around the spindle holes.  The labels are free from any pen writing, sticker residue or stickers.
