Description

BEATLES UK – Revolver, original very first Mono press, featuring the withdrawn Mono mix, the ‘Remix 11’.

1966 PMC 7009 – original black and yellow Parlophone labels.

A very first UK Mono pressing of this album in original condition, featuring:

1. these very first UK Mono records were withdrawn from sale in the UK after, as the famous story goes, John Lennon was not happy upon hearing the final mix of the album, as he claimed that the wrong mix had been used for the track, ‘Tomorrow never knows’. So the decision was made to stop production and the 2 / 1 matrix records were quickly replaced with the more familiar 2 / 2 matrix records. This however did not stop some copies of the 2 / 1 matrix getting out into the shops.

2. a similar storey happened with the record labels, as on side two used the spelling of ‘Dr’ Robert, John Lennon was apparently not happy with this spelling and insisted on the spelling of ‘Doctor’. Curious that the spelling on the rear of the sleeve was never corrected to read ‘Doctor’ !

3. the label on side one has an additional ‘dot’ within the text, ‘Sold in UK’ etc.  as it reads, ‘Sold in .U.K.’ etc !.

CONDITION:

THE MAIN SLEEVE: is excellent condition, the front of the sleeve is laminated. The sleeve has remained an excellent clean fresh white in colour. The rear of the sleeve is in excellent condition, the unlaminated surface has remained unscuffed. The rear features the original tri-flipback design. The spine is in excellent condition and has remained and excellent clean, fresh white in colour, all the text is readable on the spine. There are NO tears, splits, stains, stickers or sticker residue on the sleeve. To the top, rear right there is a small set of initials written in pen.

THE INNER SLEEVE: is in excellent condition and is the original EMI white sleeve with the text ‘Patents applied for’. There are NO splits, tears, stains, stickers or sticker residue. There is a small set of initials written in pen on one side of the sleeve.

THE VINYL: side one is in near excellent condition, side two is in excellent condition. It is made of the period thick, heavy vinyl, it is very clean, dark and glossy, it is clear that the vinyl has not been played much at all.

The matrix are:  XEX 605 - 2  and  XEX 606 – 1, that features  the ‘withdrawn’ mix of the track ‘Tomorrow never knows’ the Remix 11.

The Mother/Stampers are:   ‘5   R M’  and  ‘3   A  A’,

THE AUDIO: is excellent, with just a light ‘crackle’ heard here and there, a great playing copy. The record lays flat on the turntable.

THE LABELS:  are in excellent condition, as mentioned side two has the spelling of ‘Dr’ Robert. The letters ‘K T’ are embossed around the spindle hole on side one. The labels are free from any sticker residue or stickers. On side two there is a discrete set of initials written in pen within the yellow ‘£’ sign. Theres no other pen writing on the labels.
