Description

BEATLES UK - Rubber Soul Mono RARE Ridged label.

PMC 1267  Mono, Original 1965 Yellow & Black Parlophone Label.

An original UK album in 100% original condition.

Side One of the record label has a curious ‘ridge’ to it, that runs 9mm from the outer edge of the record label.   Little seems to be  known about  these   RARE   ‘ridged’ record labels, some say they were pressed by ‘ CBS ’ other say ‘Decca’ !.     The record has UK EMI mother/stampers so these pressings are really ‘ unknown ’   in their origin !.

As well as this ridge, on side Two of the record label there are the letters  ‘ MT ’ embossed onto it, this technically  is incorrect for a record pressed in 1965 !,  (should be ‘ KT ’) as the MT code was no longer used by EMI after July 1963. Maybe the irregularities of the ‘ MT ’ and the ‘ridged’   label are related  in some way !

Also  each label has a different font (lettering style),   on side one the text is printed in  the  ‘Sans Serif’  style   but on side two the label  has the  ‘Roman’  letter style.

The sleeve is made by E J Day,  the sleeve photo appears to have a blue tint to it rather than the more usual dark green colour !.

CONDITION:

THE MAIN SLEEVE:  is in excellent condition, the front of the sleeve is laminated.  The  sleeve is   made by E J Day.  The sleeve has retained its  four very good sharp corners.   The spine is in excellent condition and all the text is clear to read.  The rear of the sleeve feature the tri flipbacks design.   The  unlaminated rear of the sleeve is very clean and white for its age.    There are NO tears,   pen writing, splits,  stickers or sticker residue.

THE INNER SLEEVE: is in excellent condition,  it is the original ‘Use Emitex’  sleeve,  it is very clean and white for its age.  There are  NO splits, pen writing,  tears,    stains, stickers or sticker residue.

THE VINYL:   side one is in near excellent condition,  side two is in excellent  condition,  it  is made from the period thick, heavy vinyl.   The vinyl is  very clean,  dark and glossy.

The matrix are :     XEX 579 - 4    and    XEX 580 – 4,

The Mother / Stampers are:    1  1   -   R  G  A   and     7   -   R  D  D.

THE AUDIO:   the audio is very good,  the audio would improve greatly with a professional clean as the record surfaces are  so good. The vinyl lays flat on the turntable and plays without the needle sticking or jumping.

THE LABELS:  are in  excellent+  condition and show very little play.  As mentioned there is a mysterious  ‘ridge’  on side one !. There is an incorrect ‘M T’ embossed onto side two.  The  record labels show a mis match of record label fonts !.  On side two there is a small red pen name written within the yellow Parlophone circle.
