Description

BEATLES UK, Rubber Soul, final 5/5 Mono mix.

PMC 1267  Mono - original 1965 Yellow & Black Parlophone record labels.

A UK first press album in original condition, featuring:

1. what is now considered to be the best George Martin Mono mix of this album, the final Mono 5 / 5 matrix,

2. a more unusual sleeve, made and printed by the company  ‘E J Day’.

CONDITION:

THE MAIN SLEEVE: is in excellent condition, the front of the sleeve is laminated. Most of these sleeves in the 1960s were made by the printing company ‘Garrod and Lofthouse’ but this sleeve is more unusual as it is made by the printing company ‘E J Day’. The spine is excellent+ condition and all the text on the spine is clear to read. The rear of the sleeve has the period ‘tri flipback’ design. The unlaminated rear of the sleeve is clean and white for its age. There are NO splits, tears, pen writing, stickers or sticker residue on the sleeve.

THE INNER SLEEVE: is in very good+ condition, it is the original ‘Use Emitex’ sleeve. The sleeve has an original shop seal sticker on the top opening edge. This seal sticker is round and blue and white and has the text ‘COWLING** LEICESTER’. There are NO splits, pen writing, stains, stickers or sticker residue on the sleeve. There are some small tears around the ‘die cut hole’ on each side.

THE VINYL: side one is in excellent+ condition, side two is in excellent condition. The vinyl is made from the original thick, heavy vinyl. The vinyl has clearly been very well looked after and by the looks of it has not been played very much. It has remained very clean, dark and glossy. There is some signs of ‘dishing’ to the record, as it does not sit entirely flat on the turntable, but this isn’t much and it does not affect the audio.

The matrix nos. are - XEX  579 -  5 and   XEX   580 – 5,

The mother / stampers are:   very early:  ‘ 1  H P ’  and  ‘  1  G D ’.

THE AUDIO: side one plays excellent, a near perfect audio with very little in the way of any crackle. Side two is near excellent, again it plays with very little crackle, although I did hear some light ‘ticks’ on the last minute of play to the track ‘Run for your life’.

THE LABELS: are in excellent+ condition and look like a possible two plays only. The letters ‘KT’ are embossed around the spindle hole on side one. The labels are free from any pen writing, stickers or sticker residue.
