Description
BEATLES UK - Rubber Soul, rare ridged label, original UK mono.
PMC 1267, original 1965 UK mono yellow and black Parlophone labels.
A UK issue album in original condition, featuring:
1. the record label on side one has an unusual ‘ridge’ to it, it is now believed that these rare ridged labels were a result of EMI re employing old pressing machines,
2. on the record label on side two there are the letters ‘MT’ embossed around the spindle hole. Technically this is incorrect for a record made in 1965, as the ‘MT’ code was no longer used after July 1963, this inconsistency helps to tie in with the ridged label,
3. the record has EMI format mother/ stampers,
4. the record each side on track one, has what appears to be a ‘pressing’ fault, see photo, that happened at the EMI factory. This should have been spotted by the EMI quality control department, but this copy made it out into the shops.
CONDITION:
THE MAIN SLEEVE: is in near excellent condition, the front of the sleeve is laminated. The laminate has remained glossy and ‘scuff’ free. The two opening edges have remained sharp. The spine is in excellent++ condition and has remained clean and white and all of the text on the spine is clear to read. The rear of the sleeve has the period 1960s ‘tri’ flip back design. The rear of the sleeve has remained clean for its age. There are NO tears, splits, pen writing, stickers or sticker residue on the sleeve. On the rear, near to the opening edge there are some age related marks.
THE INNER SLEEVE: is in excellent+ condition and is the original ‘Use Emitex’ sleeve. The two opening edges have remained clean, an excellent and well preserved sleeve. There are NO splits, pen writing, stickers or sticker residue on the sleeve. There is a 10mm tear to one of the ‘die cut holes’.
THE RECORD: is in excellent+ condition. The record is made from the original 1960s thick, heavy vinyl. The record has remained very dark and glossy and does not ‘look’ as if it has been played very much.
The matrix are: XEX 579 - 4 and XEX 580 - 4,
The mother/stampers are: ‘11 RGA’ and ‘7 RDD’.
THE AUDIO: side one plays, overall very good++. On track one, on the second half of play there is what appears to be a factory pressing fault, see photo, that causes some ‘ticks and some ‘crackle’, track seven also plays with some ‘crackle’. Otherwise side one plays with some light ‘crackle’ heard here and there. Side two also plays, overall very good++, as with side one, side two, track one, on the second half of play there is what appears to be a factory pressing fault, that causes some ‘ticks’ and some ‘crackle’, otherwise side two plays with some light ‘crackle’ heard here and there. The record plays with a full loud, period mono sound. The record lays flat on the turntable.
THE LABELS: side one is in near excellent condition, side two is in excellent condition. The labels are free from any pen writing, stickers or sticker residue.
