BEATLES UK – ‘SGT PEPPER’ original Mono ‘Wide Spine’ album.

PMC 7027 – original black and yellow Parlophone labels.

A UK pressing in 100% original condition, featuring:

1. a very first press Mono sleeve with an ‘8mm wide spine’.

2. side one on the record label has the text ‘ Sold in UK’ etc with an additional ‘dot’, ie it reads ‘Sold in .U.K.’ etc !.

It is now believed that these flipback ‘wide spine’ Pepper sleeves were the very first to be printed when the LP was first released back in June 1967. The storey apparently goes that due to storage problems the wide spine sleeves were discontinued in favour of the more familiar, ‘thinner’ spine sleeves.

CONDITION:

THE MAIN SLEEVE:  is in excellent condition, the sleeve is fully laminated. The original exposed two top flipbacks can be seen when the sleeve is opened. The original wide spine is in excellent condition and all the text on the spine is clear to read. There are NO stains, pen writing, splits, tears, stickers or sticker residue.

THE INSERT: the original DARK green cardboard ‘ cut-out ’  is present and in excellent condition, with NO tears, pen writing, stains, stickers or sticker residue.

THE INNER SLEEVE: is in excellent+ condition and is the original red and white ‘wavy’ pattern sleeve. Theres NO pen writing, tears, splits, stickers or sticker residue. On one side edge there appears to be a small light ‘water mark’. An excellent sleeve, the white colour is fresh and clean, a very well preserved sleeve for its age.

THE VINYL:  side one is in very good++ condition, side two is in near excellent condition. The vinyl is made of the period ‘thick, heavy’ vinyl, it has remained very clean, dark and glossy.

The Matrix are:    XEX  637 - 1      and        XEX  638 - 1,

The Mother / Stampers are:    ‘ 1    G D R ’  quite early and  ‘ 2  G H H ’.

THE AUDIO:  is excellent, even the long quiet ‘exit’ to the track ‘A day in the life’ plays quiet, without the usual crackle, an excellent playing copy. The record lays flat on the turntable and plays well without the needle sticking or jumping.

THE LABELS: are in excellent condition, the letters ‘K T’ are embossed around the spindle hole on side one. The labels are free from pen writing, stickers or sticker residue.

PACKING  -  ALL RECORDS ARE POSTED WITH MULTI LAYERED CARD STIFFENERS FOR PROTECTION.BEFORE POSTING, THE RECORD IS REMOVED FROM THE RECORDS ORIGINAL INNER AND OUTER SLEEVES, THE RECORD IS THEN PUT INTO A SECOND PAPER INNER SLEEVE TO MINIMISE ANY DAMAGE THAT MAY OCCUR WHILE IN TRANSIT. THE RECORD / SLEEVES ARE THEN PUT INTO A NEW PLASTIC SLEEVE FOR FURTHER PROTECTION.
