BEATLES UK – Sgt Pepper LP, 1st UK original Mono, Wide Spine sleeve.
PMC 7027 – original black and yellow Parlophone labels.
A very first UK Mono wide spine LP in original condition, featuring:
A first UK Mono flipback sleeve with a ‘8mm wide spine’, measured at its widest point. It is now believed that these flipback ‘wide spine’ Pepper sleeves were the very first to be printed when the LP was first released in the UK back in June 1967. Due to packing storage problems the wide spine sleeves were discontinued in favour of the more familiar, ‘thinner’ spine flipback Pepper sleeves.
CONDITION:
THE MAIN SLEEVE: is in overall near excellent condition, the sleeve is fully laminated. The original wide spine is in very good++ condition and all the text on the spine is clear to read. The spines width measures 8mm at its widest point. The spine has remained clean and white in colour. The original exposed two top flipbacks can be seen when the sleeve is opened. There are NO splits, tears, pen writing, stains, stickers or sticker residue.
THE INSERT: the original DARK green cardboard ‘cut-out’ is present and is in excellent condition, with NO tears, pen writing, stains, stickers or sticker residue.
THE INNER SLEEVE: is in excellent+ condition and is the original red and white ‘wavy’ pattern sleeve. An excellent crease free sleeve, it has remained fresh clean and white in colour for its age. There are NO tears, pen writing, stickers or sticker residue. There is a slight split to one of the side edges and some light age related marks.
THE VINYL: side one is in near excellent condition, side two is in excellent condition. The vinyl is made of the period ‘thick, heavy’ vinyl, it has remained very clean, dark and glossy.
The matrix are: XEX 637 - 1 and XEX 638 - 1,
The mother / stampers are: ‘1 M G T’ and ‘0 (looks like ‘0’ with a tail on the top !), and ‘M A G’.
THE AUDIO: side one in general plays excellent, the audio begins with some light crackle, pops and ‘ticks’ but soon clears to give an overall excellent audio. Side two, the audio is excellent, and even the log exit to the track, ‘A day in the life’ is relatively quiet and crackle free. The record lays flat on the turntable.
THE LABELS: side one is in excellent++ condition, side two is in near excellent condition. The letters ‘K T’ are embossed around the spindle hole on side two. The labels are free from any pen writing, stickers or sticker residue.

PACKING - ALL RECORDS ARE POSTED WITH MULTI LAYERED CARD STIFFENERS FOR PROTECTION.BEFORE POSTING, THE RECORD IS REMOVED FROM THE RECORDS ORIGINAL INNER AND OUTER SLEEVES, THE RECORD IS THEN PUT INTO A SECOND PAPER INNER SLEEVE TO MINIMISE ANY DAMAGE THAT MAY OCCUR WHILE IN TRANSIT. THE RECORD / SLEEVES ARE THEN PUT INTO A NEW PLASTIC SLEEVE FOR FURTHER PROTECTION.
