Description
BEATLES UK – Sgt Pepper LP, wide spine, 1st UK press original mono.
PMC 7027 – original UK black and yellow Parlophone labels.
A very first UK Mono wide spine copy in complete and original condition, featuring:
1. a first UK press Mono flipback sleeve with a ‘9mm wide spine’, measured at its widest point. It is now believed that these flipback ‘wide spine’ Pepper sleeves were the very first to be printed when the LP was first released in the UK back in June 1967. Due to packing storage problems the wide spine sleeves were discontinued in favour of the more familiar, ‘thinner’ spine flipback Pepper sleeves,
2. the record has very early mother / stampers, they are: ‘1 L’ and ‘1 A’.
CONDITION:
THE MAIN SLEEVE: is in near excellent condition, the sleeve is fully laminated. The original wide spine is in very good++ condition and all the text on the spine is clear to read. The spines width measures 9mm at its widest point. The original exposed two top flipbacks can be seen when the sleeve is opened. When the gatefold sleeve is opened it is excellent, clean and very glossy. There are NO splits, tears, pen writing, stains, stickers or sticker residue.
THE INSERT: the original DARK green cardboard ‘cut-out’ is present and is in excellent+ condition, with NO tears, pen writing, stains, stickers or sticker residue.
THE INNER SLEEVE: is in near excellent condition and is the original red and white ‘wavy’ pattern sleeve. There are NO tears, pen writing, stickers or sticker residue. There is a split to the bottom edge and two splits to one of the side edges and some age related marks here and there.
THE RECORD: side one is in excellent+ condition, side two is in excellent condition. The record is made of the period ‘thick, heavy’ vinyl, it has remained very clean, dark and glossy.
The matrix are: XEX 637 - 1 and XEX 638 - 1,
The mother / stampers are: very early, ‘1 L ’ and ‘1 A’.
THE AUDIO: side one plays excellent+, with relatively nice quiet grooves. Side two plays excellent, I did hear some light ‘ticks’ to the beginning of track two that lasted for approximately one minute. The record lays flat on the turntable.
THE LABELS: are in near MINT condition. The letters ‘K T’ are embossed around the spindle hole on side two. The labels are free from any pen writing, stickers or sticker residue.

PACKING - ALL RECORDS ARE POSTED WITH MULTI LAYERED CARD STIFFENERS FOR PROTECTION.BEFORE POSTING, THE RECORD IS REMOVED FROM THE RECORDS ORIGINAL INNER AND OUTER SLEEVES, THE RECORD IS THEN PUT INTO A SECOND PAPER INNER SLEEVE TO MINIMISE ANY DAMAGE THAT MAY OCCUR WHILE IN TRANSIT. THE RECORD / SLEEVES ARE THEN PUT INTO A NEW PLASTIC SLEEVE FOR FURTHER PROTECTION.
