Description
BEATLES UK, Sgt Pepper, NO ‘A day in the life’, mis pressed record label, UK mono.
PMC 7027, original UK 1967 black and yellow Parlophone record labels.
A UK album in original condition, featuring:
1. a hard to find copy featuring a mis pressed record label on side two, as the the track, ‘A day in the life’, has NOT been printed on the record label !. It is hard to see how this could have happened at the EMI printing factory. One theory is, this track was banned by the BBC in 1967 in England, so maybe it was this reason why the track was left off the label !, but the reference to this track remained printed on the sleeve !. Only a very small number of these mis pressed record labels were ever printed, as EMI were soon to spot this error, so making them very difficult to find,
2. no tax code, ie ‘KT’ etc is embossed around the spindle holes on the record labels,
3. unusual for this particular label variant, as on side one, the record label features an addition ‘dot’ to the line of text, ‘Sold in .U.K.’, etc,
4. the sleeve features a more unusual sleeve variant as it features the text, ‘Patents Pending’ on the rear, bottom right corner.
CONDITION:
THE MAIN SLEEVE: is in very good+ condition, the sleeve is fully laminated. The spine is in near very good condition, the spine is solid but has some ‘rubbing’ wear to the centre of the spine so only some of the text on the spine is readable. When the ‘gatefold’ sleeve is opened the two original top ‘flip backs’, ie fold over edges can be seen, the sleeve inside has remained very clean and glossy. There are NO tears, splits, stickers or sticker residue on the sleeve. On the rear, bottom right corner there is some old faded pen writing written in black pen.
THE INSERT: the green card insert in NOT present.
THE INNER SLEEVE: is in very good+ condition and is the original period, plain white EMI inner sleeve with ‘square’ corners and with the text, ‘Patent applied for’. The inner sleeve is made of the period quality heavy grade paper with a textured surface on the inside. Theres NO pen writing, splits, tears, stickers or sticker residue on the inner sleeve. There are some slight age related marks to each side.
THE RECORD: each side is in near very good condition. The record is made from the period 1960s, thick, heavy vinyl.
The matrix are: XEX 637 – 1 and XEX 638 - 1,
The mother / stampers are: ‘4 RTG’ and ‘19 MMT’.
THE AUDIO: the audio plays with what could be a factory fault !, for on my turntable, each side, track one plays with a few ‘skips’ of the needle. It seems odd that each side, at the same place the record should have these ‘skips’. Side one, track one, for approximately the first two minutes ‘skips’ a number of times !, but after that the rest of side one plays, overall very good+, side one plays with some light ‘ticks’ and some light ‘crackle’ heard here and there. Side two, track one, for approximately the two minutes ‘skips’ four times !, but after that the rest of side two plays, overall very good+, side two plays with some light ‘ticks’ and some light ‘crackle’ heard here and there. The record lays flat on the turntable. The audio plays with a full, loud period mono sound.
THE RECORD LABELS: side one is in very good condition, side two is in very good+ condition. The labels are free from any pen writing, stickers or sticker residue.
