BEATLES UK, Sgt Pepper, mis press NO ‘A day in the life’, record label, UK mono.

PMC 7027, original UK 1967 black and yellow Parlophone record labels.

A UK album in original condition, featuring:

1. a hard to find copy featuring a mis pressed record label on side two, as the track, ‘A day in the life’ has NOT been printed on the record label !. It is hard to see how this could have happened at the EMI printing factory. One theory is, this track was banned by the BBC in 1967 in England, but reference to this track remained printed on the sleeve !. Only a very small number of these mis pressed record labels were ever printed, as EMI were quick to spot this error,

2. the ‘mothers’ engraved onto side two of the record appear to have been mis pressed with the number ‘8’ stamped a number of times onto the ‘run off’ groove !. I have not seen another copy of ‘Pepper’ with this mis pressed ‘label’, with these very unusual mis pressed, ‘mothers’ engraved !,

3. comes with its original period EMI, plain white, ‘Patents applied for’, inner sleeve.

CONDITION:

THE MAIN SLEEVE: is in excellent condition, the sleeve is fully laminated. The spine is in near excellent condition, the spine has some slight age related marks, but it has remained strong and all of the text on the spine is clear to read. The four opening edges have remained clean and sharp. When the ‘gatefold’ sleeve is opened the two original top ‘flip backs’, ie fold over edges can be seen, inside of the sleeve has remained very clean and glossy. There are NO tears, splits, pen writing, stickers or sticker residue on the sleeve.

THE INSERT: the green card insert in NOT present.

THE INNER SLEEVE: is in very good++ condition and is the original period, plain white EMI inner sleeve with ‘square’ corners and the text, ‘Patent applied for’. The two opening edges have remained very clean. The inner sleeve is made of the period, quality heavy grade paper with a textured surface on the inside. Theres NO pen writing, tears, stickers or sticker residue on the inner sleeve. There is a slight split to one of the side edges.

THE RECORD: side one is in near excellent condition and side two is in very good+ condition, side two would have been graded higher (excellent) but there are three non audible ‘scuff’ marks that run across side two. The record is made from the period 1960s, thick, heavy vinyl. The record has remained very dark and glossy.

The matrix are: XEX 637 – 1 and XEX 638 - 1,

The mother / stampers are: ‘37 MRR’ and ‘? MRA’, as mentioned the ‘mothers’ engraved onto side two of the record appear to have been mis pressed, as they appear as the number ‘8’ stamped on a number of times onto the ‘run off’ groove !.

THE AUDIO: each side plays excellent with just some light ‘crackle’. The record lays flat on the turntable. The record plays with a full, loud period mono sound.

THE RECORD LABELS: side one is in near excellent condition, side two is in very good++ condition. The labels are free from any pen writing, stickers or sticker residue.
