BEATLES UK – Sgt Pepper, mis pressed NO ‘A day in the life’ on label, original UK mono.

PMC 7027 – original black and yellow Parlophone labels.

A UK album in original condition, featuring:

1. a hard to find copy with a mis pressed record label on side two, only printed in a very small number. The record label on side two, the track, ‘A day in the life’ has NOT been printed on the label !. It is hard to see how this could have happened at the EMI printing factory. One theory is, the track was banned by the BBC in 1967 in England, maybe it was that fact why the track was left off the label !. The reference to this track was never removed from the sleeve, so that theory seems unlikely !,

2. the ‘mother’ on side two of the record label looks as if it has been mis pressed as it appears as a ‘0’, with ‘a tail’ on top !,

3. the sleeve is the more unusual variant as it has the text, ‘Patent Pending’ on the rear, bottom right corner.

CONDITION:

THE MAIN SLEEVE: is in good++ condition, the sleeve is fully laminated. The spine is in good++ condition, the spine is solid, without any splitting, there is some rubbing wear to the centre of the spine so most of the text on the spine is not readable. An original UK mono ‘flipback’, gate fold sleeve. Theres NO pen writing or tears. The two top edges of the sleeve have some splitting to the centre. When the gate fold sleeve is opened, to the top, right side at the opening edge there is a small area of colour and laminate peeling. To the bottom right of this opening edge there is a small area of laminate/colour loss. The top and bottom edges of the sleeve have some old cellotape residue and inside the gate fold sleeve on the left opening edge of the yellow part there is also some old cellotape residue.

THE INSERT: the green card insert in NOT present.

THE INNER SLEEVE: is in very good++ condition and is an original plain white EMI, ‘Patents applied for’ inner sleeve. The two opening edges have remained clean for their age. Theres NO pen writing, splits, tears, stickers or sticker residue on the inner sleeve.

THE RECORD: side one, is in very good++ condition. Side two is in very good+ condition. The record is made from the period 1960s, thick, heavy vinyl.

The matrix are: XEX 637 – 1 and XEX 638 - 1,

The mother/stampers are: side one, ‘2 MMP’ and on side two, ‘?’ !, it looks as if the ‘mother’ has been mis pressed, as the ‘mother’ appears to be a ‘0’ with a ‘tail’ on top !, see photo, the ‘stamper’ on side two is: ‘MMM’

THE AUDIO: side one is very good++, it plays with some light ‘ticks’ heard here and there. Side two plays near very good, it plays with some light ‘crackle’ and some light ‘ticks’ heard here and there. The record lays flat on the turntable.

THE LABELS: are in near excellent condition. The labels are free from any pen writing, stickers or sticker residue.

THE RECORD / SLEEVES ARE THEN PUT INTO A NEW PLASTIC SLEEVE FOR FURTHER PROTECTION.
