Description
BEATLES UK – Sgt Pepper, rare stereo font labels & Abbey Road LP.
Sgt Pepper, an early Stereo UK LP, with rare stereo font record labels.
PCS 7027 – original 1967 black and yellow Parlophone labels.
An early UK Stereo LP, featuring:
1. very unusual and hard to find rare font stereo record labels as ‘some’ of the text on each of the labels has been printed in a much ‘wider and bolder’ text than usual !. This ‘wider and bolder’ text is quite different in appearance to the regular ‘Sans Serif’ font used on regular UK stereo labels. Only a very few of these labels with this ‘wider and bolder’ font were printed. These labels could have been a printing error, EMI soon spotted this ‘error’ on these labels, but a few copies made it out into the shops,
2. unusually there are NO letters embossed around the spindle holes on each label. The letters ‘KT’ normally always appears around the spindle hole on regular labels !,
3. side two has early mother / stampers, being: ‘ 1 G O P ’.
CONDITION:THE MAIN SLEEVE: is in fair / good condition, the sleeve is fully laminated. The spine is in poor condition as there is a split to the middle of the spine and therefore none of the text on the spine is readable. The two original exposed top flipbacks can be seen when the sleeve is opened. On the rear part of the sleeve to the top middle edge there is some rubbing wear and a 15mm tear to the back part only upper middle opening edge.
THE INSERT: the original green insert is not present.
THE INNER SLEEVE: is in very good++ condition and is the original plain white EMI sleeve with the text ‘Patent applied for’. There are NO tears, pen writing, splits, stickers or sticker residue on the sleeve.
THE RECORD: is in ‘fair’ condition, it has a number of ‘marks’ to the playing surfaces. The record is made of the original 1960s period ‘thick, heavy’ vinyl.
The matrix are: YEX 637 - 1 and YEX 638 - 1,
The mother / stampers are: ‘ 2 G O M ’ and ‘ 1 G O P ’, very early.
THE AUDIO: the audio is untested, I would imagine the audio would play with much crackle, ‘pops’ and ‘ticks’. The record lays flat on the turntable.
THE LABELS: side one is in very good++ condition, side two is in good++ condition, side two looks as if it has had a sticker removed from it at some point. The labels are free from any pen writing.
and
Abbey Road, a very early copy, LP from 1969.
PCS 7088 – original 1969 Apple record labels.
An early UK issue album in original condition, featuring:
1. the main sleeve has been mis printed as on the front, along the opening edge and to part of the front right bottom edge there is some colour loss. This colour loss is also present to the rear of the sleeve, to the spines edge. This is not consistent with ‘sun’ damage or fading as the spine itself has not been affected by this colour loss,
2. the track ‘Her Majesty’ is printed on the record label on side two, this is more unusual for these very early Apple labels as this track is not usually printed on the label. Oddly this track is not printed the rear of the sleeve !.
CONDITION:
THE MAIN SLEEVE: is in near excellent condition, the sleeve is laminated front and rear. There are NO thumbnail creases to the front of the sleeve. The original period ‘thin’ spine is in very good++ condition and all the text on the spine is clear to read. Theres NO pen writing, splits, tears, stickers or sticker residue on the sleeve.
THE INNER SLEEVE: is in very good++ condition and is the original EMI, period plain white sleeve, with ‘Patent Nos 1,125,555’ on, together with the text, ‘Made in England’. Theres NO pen writing, tears, stickers or sticker residue on the sleeve. There are some slight age related marks on the sleeve and a slight split to the bottom middle edge.
THE RECORD: side one is in excellent condition, side two is in very good condition. The record is made from the period 1960s thick, heavy vinyl. It has remained dark and glossy.
The matrix are: YEX 749 - 2 and YEX 750 - 1,
The mother / stampers are: ‘ 4 O P H ’ and ‘ 2 M P D ’,
THE AUDIO: side one plays is very good+, it plays with relatively quiet grooves, it plays with some light ‘ticks’ heard here and there. Side two plays very good with some light crackle and some light ‘ticks’ to be heard here and there. The record lays flat on the turntable.
THE LABELS: side one is in very good++ condition, side two is in very good condition. As this is a very early issue record, side one shows a DARK green Apple colour. The labels are free from any pen writing, stickers or sticker residue.
