BEATLES UK – Sgt Pepper, wide spine & 1 G mother / stamper, original mono LP.
PMC 7027 – original black and yellow Parlophone labels.It is now believed that these flipback ‘wide spine’ Pepper sleeves were the very first to be printed when the LP was first released in the UK back in June 1967. Due to storage problems the wide spine sleeves were discontinued in favour of the more familiar, ‘thinner’ spine sleeves.
A very first mono UK issue, featuring:
1. the sleeve has a spine width of 8mm, measured at its widest point,
2. side one of the record has a ‘1 G’ mother / stamper, these are the very earliest stamps you can have,
3. side one of the record label has an additional dot, as it reads ‘Sold in .U.K.’ etc, the record label on side two does not have this dot !.
CONDITION:
THE MAIN SLEEVE: is in very good+ condition, the sleeve is fully laminated. The original exposed two top flipbacks can be seen when the sleeve is opened. The original wide spine is in very good+ condition and all of the text on the spine can be read. There are NO stains, pen writing, splits, tears, stickers or sticker residue on the sleeve. When the sleeve is opened up, to the top right corner, just below the flipback there is a small area, approximately 10mm sq of laminate and yellow missing.
THE INSERT: is in excellent condition and is the original DARK green cardboard ‘cut-out’. There are NO tears, pen writing, stickers or sticker residue.
THE INNER SLEEVE: is in very good condition and is the original red and white ‘wavy’ pattern sleeve. Theres NO pen writing, tears, stickers or sticker residue. There is an edge split to the two side edges and to the bottom edge. To one side only of the opening edges there are some small ‘nicks’. For its age a good clean original sleeve.
THE RECORD: side one is in very good+ condition, side two is in near excellent condition. The record is made of the period 1960s ‘thick, heavy’ vinyl. It has remained dark and glossy.
The matrix are: XEX 637 - 1 and XEX 638 - 1,
The mother / stampers are: side one, ‘1 G’ the earliest you can get and side two, ‘ 3 R ’.
THE AUDIO: is very good++, it plays with some light crackle, some ‘pops’ and some light ‘ticks’ heard here and there. As the record playing surfaces are clean a professional clean may improve the audio. The record lays flat on the turntable.
THE LABELS: side one is in excellent condition, side two is in very good condition, as there is some ‘sticker’ residue on the label on side two. The letters ‘K T’ are embossed around the spindle hole on side two. The labels are free from any pen writing, stickers or any ‘other’ sticker residue.

PACKING - ALL RECORDS ARE POSTED WITH MULTI LAYERED CARD STIFFENERS FOR PROTECTION.BEFORE POSTING, THE RECORD IS REMOVED FROM THE RECORDS ORIGINAL INNER AND OUTER SLEEVES, THE RECORD IS THEN PUT INTO A SECOND PAPER INNER SLEEVE TO MINIMISE ANY DAMAGE THAT MAY OCCUR WHILE IN TRANSIT. THE RECORD / SLEEVES ARE THEN PUT INTO A NEW PLASTIC SLEEVE FOR FURTHER PROTECTION.
