BEATLES UK - Sgt Pepper, wide spine sleeve, unusual ‘mother’, original UK mono.
PMC 7027 – original black and yellow Parlophone labels.
A very first UK mono wide spine issue, featuring:
1. a very first UK mono flip back sleeve with an ‘8mm wide spine’, measured at its widest point. It is now believed that these flip back ‘wide spine’ Pepper sleeves were the very first to be printed when the album was first released in the UK back in June 1967. Due to packing storage problems the wide spine sleeves were discontinued in favour of the more familiar, ‘thinner’ spine flip back Pepper sleeves,
2. side two of the record has a very unusual ‘mother’ engraved, as it does not appear like the normal ‘number’ layout, it appears as the number ‘0’ with a ‘tail’ on the top ! see photo,
3. the image on the front of the sleeve has a much lighter colour blue sky.
CONDITION:
THE MAIN SLEEVE: is in near excellent condition, the sleeve is fully laminated. This laminate has an excellent clean, glossy finish. The original wide spine is in very good++ condition and all of the text on the spine is clear to read. The spine has remained clean and white in colour. The spines width measures 8mm at its widest point. The four opening edges of the sleeve are in excellent condition and have remained clean and sharp. The original exposed two top flip backs can be seen when the sleeve is opened. Theres NO pen writing, splits, tears, stains, stickers or sticker residue on the sleeve.
THE INSERT: the original green card ‘cut out’ insert is in excellent condition. The rear of the insert is very clean. The insert is free from any tears, pen writing, stains, pin holes, blue tac residue, cellotape residue, sticker residue or stickers.
THE INNER SLEEVE: is in excellent++ condition and is the original red and white ‘wavy’ pattern sleeve. A remarkably well preserved sleeve for its age. It has remained fresh and clean and relatively free from any creases. The two opening edges have remained clean and unworn. Theres NO pen writing, tears, stains, stickers or sticker residue. There is a slight split to the bottom edge.
THE RECORD: side one is in very good++ condition. Side one would have been graded much higher but there are three isolated ‘marks’. Side two is in near excellent condition, again the condition would have been graded much higher but there is one isolated ‘mark’. The record is made of the period 1960s, ‘thick, heavy’ vinyl, it has remained very dark and glossy and ‘looks’ as if it has not been played very much at all.
The matrix are: XEX 637 - 1 and XEX 638 - 1,
The mother / stampers are: side one, ‘ 6 R M T ’ and side two, very unusual ‘ 0 ’, see photo, the ‘mother’ engraved looks like just the number ‘0’ with ‘a tail’ coming off the top !. The ‘stampers’ on side two are: ‘R O R ’.
THE AUDIO: is excellent, side one plays with some light ‘ticks’ for approximately the first two tracks, after this, side one plays with excellent quiet grooves. Side two plays excellent, with excellent quiet grooves, even the long fade out exit to the track ‘A day in the life’ plays with excellent quiet grooves. The record lays flat on the turntable.
THE LABELS: side one is in excellent++ condition. Side two is in excellent+ condition. The letters ‘K T’ are embossed around the spindle hole on side two. The labels are free from any pen writing, stickers or sticker residue.

THE RECORD / SLEEVES ARE THEN PUT INTO A NEW PLASTIC SLEEVE FOR FURTHER PROTECTION.
